    Default What Guage Cable??

    Hey there,
Im looking at installing all my gear soon, heres a list. Alpine HU (already installed), USAudio 900w 4ch, USAudio 1200w monoblock, 2x Kenwood DB+ 12" subs, and jaycar splits front, jaycar 6" coax rear. for these amps, would i need to go to 2ga or is 4ga fine? I was looking at either of these Aerpro wire kits... http://www.aerpro.com.au/list.php either the AP963 or AP4GK kits

    Thanx guys.

4ga should be OK I think - it's good for 110A or so. As long as you make certain all the connection points are nice and clean, and tight.

Be very aware of the terminations at your fuseholder too - there's another thread in here somewhere - a guy was melting the plastics in his fuseholder. Pretty sure that was caused by a slight resistance in the cable terminations - causing heat to be generated when heavy current is flowing.

Still, if you have the spare cash to splash on the 2ga cable - why not?? Couldn't hurt!

    Cheerz.

8 ga is not really going to cut it as the Aeropro is only designed to handle 800 watts - 1000watts max, and you have 2100 watts - I would go to 4ga.

I would would not use the AP963 ($250.00)

I would go to the AP962 with a oga- 4ga x2 distribution block - fused

    Here are the items

    AP962 -- $ 100.00 - designed to take what you have.
    AP899 -- $ 75.00 - 0ga power wire - 4 metres
    APD2 -- $ 45.00 - Fused Distribution Block - Digital.

By the time you add all the gear together it is more cost effective than the AP963 (RRP $ 299.00 - we have these for $250.00)

But for that money I would be looking at the RF - CP4DCKS for the same money as the AP963

Also you should be running at least a 1 farad capacitor

    something like a CPCD10-03 or CPC10-03

    or PS52B - $200.00

Good idea, though I would go the AP962 with 0ga power to the distribution block and then the APD2

as you are running a mono and a multi channel.

Though that is us... we hardly use any 2ga or 8ga

hhm, i cant afford to spend nearly $300 on a 20m roll of 0ga cable so ill just go with a kit that allready has it (prob be the ap963 tho) only thing it hasnt got is the cap and rca's.

You dont have to buy a roll, though if you are getting it through your work then I would say they will have to as they dont stock it
