budget headunit

Hey , Im looking at buying a new headunit from a local retailer in brisbane during the sale weeks.

Anyone own/use the Eclipse CD3000

or the JVC KD-G725

Opinions? Is there another unit I should check out in the same price range.
Also what is a good store to install the unit if I decide to get a retailer to do it?

I personal would take the JVC any day of the week

Have you looked at the DEH-P5850mp as the JVC should be around $289.00

My question with the Eclipse is....what do you inted to do with it? It's a US headunit. Not an Australian. Your paying extra for features you will never use. Like the Sirius Satellite radio capability.

It was recommended to me as a very good budget headunit.
Also whats your opionions on Response Precision coaxials, I know the splits are praised for the price, how do the coaxials differ from sound quality and build quality?

some people just dont get it.. with the USA models, look at the clarion, alpine and pioneer multimedia models as well not only is the radio frequencies a problem, but they are all NTSC only.

The DVD are only NTSC!!! and REGION 1 LOCKED -- WILL NOT PLAY PAL discs... they will if you unlock the DVD region though all you will get is a Black and White Rolling Picture!!!

Take the Alpine IVA and DVA range, they dont have a letter after the last digit! so making them an AMERICAN Model they also have the XM radio logo on the screen surround which is the DEAD give away!

See below the first is the American Model, second the "E" model

As for the Pioneer models, we see alot of the AVIC Range come in to our workshop for people to convert to Australian Models... again these are NTSC only as well.....

So if you have BROUGHT one they are an expensive CD/ TUNER!!!!

Clarion are LOCKED with no FIRMWARE or ERROR CODE available

We have the FIRMWARE for all of the alpine model to make them region free, though if it is i IVA-D900 or IVA-D300 in all formats "E" "R" "J" " " then they can never be made region free as these we before ALPINE decided to go down the Firmware ICs... and the SUCKERS are EPOXIED on the PCB!!!! so go get off!!!!

As for the HU's, they are completely different Radio Frequencies, though ALPINE, PIONEER, SONY and JVC can be changed to AUSTRALIA Frequencies...

Cant u get some sorta Chip like the Playstation 4 example so u can have both PAL and NTSC? i dont have 1 of these just was curious if i got 1 later on i know wat 2 look 4

Yes .. we have the IC for these though being EPOXED in to the PCB you have to destroy the PCB to get the IC off!!!

The IVA-D310, D300 and D900 have a TOTALLY different BLACK BOX from the other models as they run Sat Radio and the rest dont... plus the USA black box only is capable of NTSC not NTSC and PAL

As for the other models

PKG-RSE2

they are firmware

As for chipping the other manufacturers we know what the Pioneer one is... but will not give it out or change the codes for anyone... unless they buy them from us,.... but all our Pioneer DVD models are NTSC / Pal and ALL ZONE anyway so no need to change them.

Same with our JVC and Sony stock.

As for Clarion we know what it is that need to be changed though can not source it at all.

It is the manufacturers way of protecting there REGIONS MASTER DISTRIBUTORS.

As for the HU's they can be change via error codes... though at a cost!

hi i bought one of those dodgy ebay dva 9861's and it plays thai/bali dvds no worries but would love to be able to play my legit oz ones. am happy to pay and would love to get the firmware changed to oz region code or region free if its possible. main reason i bought it on ebay as was no longer available in oz, but i wanted an in dash dvd player with no screen! any help very much appreciated.
