Default Screwing down into parcel shelf?

Im gunna fix the 6x9s i have sitting in my parcel shelf of my VR down properly later today, i've got just mdf carpeted spacers. I was wondering if i can just take the shelf out, drill holes and screw the speaker + spacer down to the parcel shelf only, not attaching it to any of the cars framing structure?

Let me know if this would be alright.

    Cheers

So are you going to fastern your spacers through the parcel shelf??

If you dont they will be nice BIG!!!! projectiles in an ACCIDENT!!!!

Plus if you installed them you will be liable... for injures and your insurance claim with be a bastard as insurance companies look for such things to get of paying....

Alright, i got em in, they dont hold really well though, the screws are only thru the spacers and parcel shelf board shit. They wont fall out but if u give them a decent heeve ya could probly pull them out. Is this ok? Any suggestions

ummm have you got a the normal shelf or is it one u made custom??
if its the normal one try find come small bolts that u can tighten onto the screw thats mite be a good idea its all i can comw up with tho
just if u do that remember there are bolts inder there when u wanan take them out lol
and it it aint custom and u wanna make one
here is the cheapest and easyest way to do it
get a sheet of like 5mm
rip of the carpet of the parcel shelf
mark out the board to fit exactly on top of ur parcel shelf
mark out where u want ur speakers and cut it out on the top board
then sit the top bit ontop of ur original parcel shelf and mark out where the holes there will need to be cut and cut them
then glue and screw up leave for like 2 or 3 hours
fill the inside with expanda foam then leave it over night
then in the morning cut out the excess foam where the sleakers will sit and cover with new carpet as old stufff proberly wont fit then u got a new parcel shelf but make sure u still use ur spacers as i need them on mine
