    Default Speakers for VS

    Hi Guys,

Please forgive me as I know very little about car audio.

I have a berlina VS sedan. I am looking at purchasing a set of pioneer TS-C160R speakers. Just wanting to know if they would fit directly in the front door without any mods, spacers etc.

    Thanks for your help.

The stock standard speakers in the VS are actually very good. With the stock Eurovox tape player they sound crap but with a high quality head unit like Pioneer they sound fantastic. They handle a wide range of frequencies and volume without distorting. This is my second VS and both times installed a Pioneer CD player and couldn't be happier with the sound quality.

You know it's funny that you say that! I remember the first time I worked on a VR I dropped the CD Player in first, tested it and wondered when did I miss the 10" sub being put in? I was seriouisly amazed at it's capability with just headunit change.

mmmm when i did a head unit swap there was a great difference but I couldn't turn it up all that much. i put it down to the fact I am using a cheap head unit that just likes to distort itself.

i wonder how the paper cones would go with a 'toy' amp behind them ( don't want something too big else paper + high power = insurance claim for fire )
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.

anything is going to be better than Eurovox ... even if I do say JAYCAR!!! lol.

Spend some money on decent speakers like the TS-C1625, RF P162S etc

Changing your head unit and leaving the stock speakers will be a far greater improvement than changing the speakers and leaving the stock head unit in. If you're on a tight budget a 200 watt Pioneer like the DEH-P4850MP can be had for about $225 if you shop around and haggle (and install it yourself). Thats what I've got and it gives you tons of possible EQ features. You'd be lucky to get two pairs of good quality speakers including splits for less than that price.

Before christmas I bought a pair of Pioneer 6" TSA-1681S for the rear of my wifes '91 Laser. Retail price of $199. Autobarn supposedly had a 'massive' sale for $175. I haggled and they reluctantly sold them to me for $120. Now I know they aren't splits or the best speakers ever made but they do a damn good job at 260w, 4 way and as far as sound quality and construction goes they are "good quality speakers". I know splits are more expensive than your 2 way or 3 ways but I do know good quality when I hear it.

They are desperate for sales as that is below dealer pricing ... so you have done very well

Though 6*9 are not Componenet speakers are they now!!!

The TS-A1681s are not a bad speaker at all... the 2007 model --- which replaces them are very nice indeed as well the TS-A6972E which we can sell for $149.00 though again are not 6.5 splits / componets!

PS the NEW TS-A6962E we can let go for $110.00 delivered!
