Recently, I have been getting a high pitch squeal in my back speakers that varies with acceleration. The rear speakers are powered off my amp. The noise isn't in my front speakers as they are still powered from my headunit.
I have tried a different amp and a different headunit, so I know its neither of those and I've also tested all the wiring.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this noise? Or better still how to stop it![]()
Alternator whine. Have you run your RCA's seperate to your power cable? Power down right, RCA's down left?

Valid point - i know of cars where they are run together with no dramas - having said that, he could have stinger dream series RCA's run with power cable but he has ground problems inducing noise. I think we should wait for a response before bagging out his RCA's

Try the Kings guide if its not power wire interference. Systematically is your best bet.
The Kings guide to elimanating stereo noise.
LOL ... why wait!!!!
True about the earth as well Joey.... that why we should all use "STAR" Washers....
Actual the Wiring Kits are Very Good from Aeropro such as the AP963 AP962 etc as the kits contain double and triple shielded RCAs etc
It is just when.... they dont buy the kits and make one up themselves to save money ....usually going the the CHEAPIES -- and either or not shielded or are single shield!..... again another case of you get WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

wat sorta HU do u have? if its a pioneer try replacing the circuit protector and resolder the PCB contacts as somtimes these tend 2 blow easy with these HUs was told they were poorly designed in this area and is somtimes not needed but its usually where u get ur whining noise from

sounds to me like youve got a bad earth somewhere also ive heard of the problem if you dont have a proper amp cable battery conector so do as these guys have recomended and get yourself a good amp wireing kit and if you already have then check all earths that they have good conectivity!
.... a bad ground, or possibly a ground loop. Incredible how much noise will be induced into a loop....
Just a thort.![]()

Yeah i have had that before, its when i ran the RCA lead along the same side of car as my amp power cable. Had to re run it on the other side of the car.
always best 2 run the leads outside of the car neways 1st make sure RCAs r on opposite side of the main power lead if ur still gettin it must b a bad ground then
StoneX i know he changed units but its a common thing 2 check if its not the RCAs or ground so best 2 just put it out there but yer....

My money is on the earth. How can you even think it was a bad wiring kit when we don't know anything else about the system?
If StoneX said he was getting a whine would we blame it on a cheap wiring kit? Doubtful.
The reason I say the earth is purely and simply because of the statement "of late" It wasn't always there, it's a recent development. Tighten the earths and see what happens.
Perhaps also the issue is in the wiring. I recently sent back a set of RCAs because they were damaged in the shielding. Got a new set and it had the same issues. Was pretty PO'd about it considering it was a STINGER brand. Thought I had brought a decent set of cables. Goes to show one thing... Cost of cable don't mean crap.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
Phreddy was right, the problem is the ground loop for the head unit's RCA outputs had stopped working. I've got a patch-up fix of running wires from the outer of the RCA connections to the earth of the wiring harness until I can get the headunit repaired.
I'd be interested to know what caused the ground loop to stuff up though.
Its not wiring, as its been working for 8 months prior to this happening. Power and RCAs are run on seperate sides of the car.
stoneX did u tell me there was a way round the gounding loop in the units a lil while ago wen i had that problem? wat was it could it b the same?

Ground the RCA output outer ring. It is meant to be ground anyway, but internal fuse on Pioneer units blows and causes noise.
can u connect it up so u dont use the fuse? so it stops blowing? i think u were sayin u can b4 ? how would u do it?
