    Default Ported Application

I currently have 2 pioneer 12" ts-306's in a sealed box running with a 500rms monoblock. I have been considering getting a ported box for these subs considering i listen to mainly hiphop & rnb (Apperently ported is suited better with this type of music). Has anyone used these subs ported? If so how did they go?
Also what would be the best way to face the subs?
With my sealed box i had them faced forward thru the fold down part of the rear seat, i turned them backwards and it made a hell of a difference. Would it be possible to have the subs facing forward and the ports facing backwards?

Pioneer dont recommend a PORTED Box for these... and honestly they sound better in a seal box of 1.25cuft is the optimum for these subs.

Gotta disagree with CAFO, these subs do go well in a ported enclosure. If i recall correctly the EBP is ~70 indicating suited to either ported or sealed. Your f3 (how low the sub can play) will be considerably lower ie deeper bass - the trade off is higher group delay (how laggy the bass will sound). I suggest you go ported, 2.2cu/ft per sub tuned to 30-35hz (tune lower first and then chop the port until your happy with how it sounds).

For hip hop music, i think that the improved low end is worth the switch to ported. The sealed rolls off at around 50hz compared to low 30's depending on tune in the ported. If your going to build the box yourself it'll only cost about $80 so its worth a try... cheaper then a new amp although you should definitely get one if you got the money. Ideally, if you know someone with the same sub in a ported box it'd be good if you compare them yourself...

Joey has a valid point... though these SUB SOUND like CRAP in a ported box.. if you are playing any thing else by DOOF DOOF and DOOF DOOF gets BORING!!!

Also depends how you have got them wired as they can be wired in the following configurations for one sub

    4 ohms - Bridged MONO - Parallel
    2 ohms - Stereo
    2 ohms - mono

I just checked the dealers specs for a ported enclosure they are as follows

    Box Volume:..1.85 cuft
    Port Size:......3" Round
    Port Length:..6"

These are for seperate boxes...for each sub

Will put up the install manual in a minute

Yes - Ported gives you better low bass but a a sacrific.

INSTALL MANUAL - Including SUB ENCLOSURES!

    ENJOY!

Though I would Personally not use a ported box on these subs.... as they are too limited then. for SQ!~

We dont put them up as they are custom tuned to sach individual Subwoofer

So one size unfortunately does not fit all

THe Infinity Enclosure would be the way to go in my opinion for a ported enclosure as they are extremely good and very easy to tune and adjust if needed.

and it is SPOT on for your SUBS!!

you will need to email sales@caraudiofactoryoutlet.com.au to order

    PS same price as quoted.

    does that include postage?

would they sound better facing rear ward, or facing towards the seats?
if facing rear was better i would try and find a box that does not have a angled face, because i want to put fake walls up and make it look neat
