    Default Speakers in door trim

    Hey guys,

Has anyone installed speakers in the driver and passenger door trims? Is there enough room to install directly into the trim without using pods and will the trim hold the weight?

    These are only 16cm speakers

6.5" speakers?? pretty standard, though have not done a VN for a long time.. Would suggest that you strengthen the door card... plus make sure you door trim clips are new or in good condition..

Will depend on what type of speaker you are fitting, magnet size, depth etc.

Hopefully I can get them in there without pods, took off the trim today and llooks like the should fit. Was just wondering if anyone had actually done it with otu the pods.

I have put some in .. But used pods... Just get som MDF wood, cut in a circle, and put some matching vinyl ... Apart from seeing some of the marks from where the map pocket was it looks quite good...

Or you could just get later model VR-VS or Statesman pockets which came with speaker pods and put them in ... That way it will look totally stock ...

    Here is a quick pic...

I have some of the map pockets out of the calais that I took all the interior from, and when I feel the need I will pull out the dremil, and attack it so it fits...

Yeah looks good, I could try that.

Right behind the trim where you have your speaker there is a hole in the door that looks perfect for a speaker. I reckon the magnet would fit in there.

Yep, but there is not much room there for the magnet to fit through before it hits the glass... Wind down your window all the way and you will see...

A little off topic, but is that your bike ???

They are only basic 6.5" so you should be right as the Magnet and basket is not going to be HUGE!!!

    WINDOW WILL BE THE ISSUE!

Anyway you could use something like this if needed

No not mine, one of the guys at work owns it. Must get him to take me for a spin

I'll have a play with it tonight and see how I go.

I'll post a pic if I can get it to fit in there!

No way they will fit without some sort of spacer.

The glass is back far enough but the regulator arm gets in the way when the window comes down.

    True

Though sometimes it comes down to the type of speaker!

yes it is possible, depends on the speaker itself mostly, u dont want to resort to cutting anything so get spacers or better VS door pods if u need them. here are sum pics of somebody that has put them straight in that i found on here a while ago.

Thanks guys, going with the parcel shelf I think, can't be bothered searching for pods or buying spacers, just want to get the things in there somewhere.
