Best is to have a mono for your sub and a 2 channel for your splits

you need an amp to run splits unless you dont use the crossovers and tweeters.

You can use a 4 channel and bridge two channels to run the sub though would not recommend it! and you will need a D2 or similar sub so you can wire it to present 2 ohms.

2 ohm sub instead of a 4 ohm if you are doing down the 4 channel amp route.

No I would not recommend the 4 channel bridged as it is the TIGHT ARSE approach and not a very good one at that ..... though it does work... if you are on a budget... but dont expect miracles out of your system!

one of the amps im lookin at is a 4x100 that can do Power / bridged @ 4ohm 14.4V: 380WRMS x 2 does that mean it can run a 4ohm sub or only a 2ohm.. it doesnt need 2 b a mega loud kick ass system.. just something that will go alright with decent bass.. and money is abit tight atm can only afford about 500 for sub/amp.. but was thinkin of a 4 channel to do both atm.. and when got abit of extra cash get a mono amp 4 the sub..

Which means you can only run it as a two channel --- not good! unless you put the splits on one channel and the woofer on the other. I should have said that you need an 4 channel amp that will TRIWAY! the cheap ones dont!

    The Rockford ones will

will this is the specs of the amp will it b able 2 run the splits on 1 channel and sub on another atleast until we can afford a mono amp aswell..
    Response Car Amp 4x100WRMS *$299
If you are looking for an ultra-powerful 4-channel amplifier then the AA-0426 is an excellent choice. Power output exceeds 100WRMS power channel or 300WRMS in bridged mode at 4ohms, making it ideal for a one amplifier system powering both full range speakers and a subwoofer. There’s also fully variable high and low pass filters between 50Hz and 500Hz, with pass thru RCA outputs to link this amp to an additional AA-0424 2 x 150WRMS amp to drive your subwoofers, or better still the amazing new AA-0428 Class-D subwoofer amplifier.

    Specifications:
    Power / channel @ 4ohm 14.4V: 130WRMS x 4
    Power / channel @ 2ohm 14.4V: 190WRMS x 4
    Power / bridged @ 4ohm 14.4V: 380WRMS x 2
    Signal/Noise ratio: >90dB
    Input sensitivity: 200mV to 5V
    Low pass filter: 50 - 500Hz @ 12dB/octave
    High pass filter: 50 - 500Hz @ 12dB/octave
    Pass thru RCA: Yes
    Dimensions: 400(L) x 258(W) x 50mm(D)

    BUT ARE THEY TRIWAY??
You would have to have rocks in your head if you think that this will run a sub and splits at the correct RMS, HZ etc.

Even the Sony XMSD46X is Triway .... again RMS is not EVERYTHING

If you bridge two channels to run the sub and then two channels to run the SUB you might as well KISS your MTXs CONEs GOODBYE!!!!

    Let alone a CHEAP SUB!
