    Default alternator whine in stereo

had a whine in my car stereo (VZ SV6) that made a higher pitch as the engine reved, noticable with volume set to zero. but cant tell when stereo on normal volume setting.

i have all aftermarket blaupunkt gear, and all speakers running of amps
rca down left and power down right, all shielded cables, all high quality.

anyway got talking to a plumber at work (aka* darkhorse stereos) and he recommended a 4 gauge earth cable going from the neg battery terminal to the body as a booster, he said that most modern cars cables are made to factory OE specs, and when upgrading stereos, earth cables need to be upgraded aswell.

did this any whine is GONE!

Yeah, decent installers will always upgrade the ground when installing an amp. No point having 4ga power cable if stock 8ga earth is going to restrict current flow.

most engine noise is cause by a faulty unit or amplifier. then the wiring. first try a brand new rca, if still there try a another amp, if not try another head unit. If still there, then you will need a engine noise reducer, best one i have used is a mas power one. good luck.

Everyones a SMART ARSE! --- HP/ LP switch over --- well if you have a poor install and have noise coming though on the amp then to test it switch from HP to the LOW PASS FILTER, which normally will insolutate the noise... make it disappear!

So it is ether a BAD INSTALL - POOR EARTH or JUST CRAP RCAs and NON OXYGEN COPPER WIRES!

NO HARD TO THINK about is it -- garfa! and Luke!

you can't hear engine noise in low frequencies, when you change it to lp and you make it disappear. what does this tell you, Nothing. It just cuts out the noise. It does not tell you where the problem is. How can you add advice when you clearly do not understand what is going on. CAfo ??????????????????

    What is "insolutate"?

You don't seriously believe "NON OXYGEN COPPER WIRES" make engine noise, do you?
