fiberglassing...

Hey all,
im making door pods to fit some 6.5" splits ive got that wont fit in the original vr/vs commodore door pod. They will be similar to these here

My question is, why is the fiberglassing necessary, what is the advantage of it, also, what the price on it, and what do you need to do it, like all the different thing, resin, filler and whatever else? I really have no idea on it and just trying to learn a bit about it.

I searched for fiberglass and couldnt find anything so dont go off at me if its been covered before.
