    Default Looking for some advice.

    Hello fellow commodore lovers

Well after about 4 years of wanting one i just got myself a VS last week (yay i can burn my EB falcon now) so now that big list ive been making over the years of what i want to do to my sexy VS can come out to play but first things first is the stereo.

basically i dont want to spend a fortune on my stereo and i prefer medium volume sound quality than stupidly loud distorting subs so im looking for some advice to turn my plain system into something a little beter.

heres what i got (sorry cbf getting model numbers)

Pioneer HU (just a bottom of the line one i bought a year ago.
Kenwood 300w 6x9's (again bottom of the line)
    Kenwood 2ch 320w amp
    Sony explode 800w 12"
Clarion 4" maybe 150w not sure

now first proplem, i wanted to put my 6x9's in the parcel tray but after ripping it out i discovered they wont fit so im looking for something that will just screw straight in and cost about $150. anyone got a suggestion?

Also since my 4" clarions wont fit in my door trims i need something no more than $150 to put in there. (unless someone has an idea of how i can make my clarions fit in the door cause i love these little suckers)

now as for my amp and sub..... should i get another explode like what i have and another amp similar to what i have or would i be better of selling my cheapo sub and getting 1 thats a better quality but not too expensive?

i was thinking of getting another 12" like what i have and maybe a cheap 1ch amp and then running my front and back speakers off my 2ch and my 2 12"s off a single channel amp.

just for a heads up im not much of a guru when it comes to car stereos so im a little iffy on what i should do to get the best bang for my buck. i like the sound im getting from my system atm but it just needs a little more kick. (im sure theres a few ppl here that feel the same way about thier system)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

4" clarions you could use a 4 to 6" adaptor to fit the clarions in the door trim though I would throw them in the bin... The EFX HDX-67 are a straight fit no mod necessary and under $150.00

With the 6*9 you will either need a spacer/ adaptor there are ones around that will give you some height and angle to get some height so the magnets will fit in the 6" hole

A CHEAP MONO is not going to run your fronts and Sub or a 2 channel will run your fronts rear and subs.

You will need at least a 4 channel that can triway though, it would be advised that you go to a Mono and a 4channel - if you have not the cash... SAVE UP!!! no sense in doing a half ****ed job and WASTING TIME, MONEY and EFFORT

Do forget that you will need a DECENT WIRING KIT, Distribution BLock etc.

If you are going to SAVE UP NOW go for a GOOD QUALITY 4 Channel AMP that can be TRIWAYED that way you can run your Fronts on one channel, rear on another and the SUB on the bridged channel.

Pioneer, Infinity, RF etc do these though you will pay good money and at least you will not have to upgrade it etc when you upgrade your system.

No sense in spending MONEY, TIME and EFFORT only to have to do it 6-12 months down the TRACK!

Plus a MONO AMP are built specifically for SUBS!

cafo I get so tired of your relentless trashing of all brands except those you sell. Stop it please.

On topic, just remember that whatever components you get can be made to sound a hundred times better just with sound deadening, so I recommend putting at least a couple of hundred bucks away to do that, EVEN if it means settling for a slightly lower budget in other areas. You won't regret it
    * Phreddy's Blaupunkt Aux input and line out mod

    * Sureflo 3.5 inch medium-loud cat back exhaust

FYI: We can and did stock CLARION and a Matter of FACT anything!... though that is not the point .,.. if you read it he is using 4" for the front so not taking advantage of what he could use.

Sound Deadening is always the first step and the way to go as you have indicated... again it is save up and dont waste your time, money and effort in doing it twice...

shaggerz ... how telling some one that a 4 channel that can not be triwayed or using it to power subs is not the optimum way .... is BAGGING is beyond me!!

i was referring to your piss-taking of Clarion gear, and many others in many other threads. "I would throw them in the bin" is different to "they will be too small to produce any decent sound" or something like that.
