    Default VY Sound System

i know there a thread for this already somewhere... but...

Im lookin to upgrade my speakers on my VY, but i dont know the size of the speakers behind the front and rear doors (as i cracked a speaker cover i dont really wanna try again), also there are no speakers on the rear parcel shelf (they have to be cut out, speaker covers bought etc) and a metal plate on each side that has to be removed. Also I dont really wanna buy a sub...

Are there any distortion probs with upgrading the doors?
Would i have to have a new head unit/amp to run 6 speakers?

Any advice would be good cos i got no idea which way to go lol

    Cheers guys

dont run 6 speakers. your money will be better spent on 4 speakers. whats better 6 kias or 4 holdens?
6 channel amps are expensive and huge.
speakers in your car are 6 inch. 6.5 inch can fit.
what do you mean by distorsion probs?

I've upgraded the speakers in the front to pioneer splits and put some 6 x 9 pioneers in the back parcel shelf of the stock unit and it sounds great.
As garfa said, don't worry about the extra set in the back doors, i did it in my vt and it made no difference.
    Installation is pretty basic too.

i have alpine 6*9's in the parcel tray running off an alpine amp and all standard speakers running off my alpine head unit.
I can honestly tell you the standard speakers are bloody awesome they crank, people will probably think differently, but i think its the head unit thats running them not the speakers.
To put the 6*9's in you take out the parcel shelf and the rear seats. The steel plate thing where the speakers go just pop out get a screwdriver and lever it under near the 4 welds.
i did have a thread on what i did with my car but dunno where it is now.

another note i dont have a sub but you can her the bass outside my car. As long as you buy quality gear the sound will be awesome.

So just front and rears are the go? Ive chosen to go Alpine Type R's so the quality should be good...

I mean distortion as in nothing in the doors will come loose etc from the bass?

buy some splits and a sub dont even worry about rear speakers unless you really care about your backseat passengers, fade to the front and youll be laughing
