I just got my head unit back from repairs and have my system hooked all back up ... I never used to have the front speakers working properly until now in which the quality of sound is f*cking crap.
My setup is
* 12inch sub in the boot which is bridged to two channels on my amp
* Two 6x9's as my rear speakers hooked up to the other two channels on the amp
* 4 channel amp which gets its input from the rear RCA's off the headunit.
Now the problem is the front speakers. When I fade all the input towards the front (F15) the sound quality is great, no crackling, can pump it to at least 24-25 volume without distortion or crackling on the front speakers HOWEVER, once I centre the fader or favour it more to the rear the crackling starts to appear. Even on the R15 setting I get crackling.. Generally the crackle is audible at 22 or so onwards (volume level). I'm pretty confident that it's the front speakers making the noise so I was thinking that maybe I get a pair of tweeters for the front (which are door mounted) to replace the stock 6's. If anyone has any advice about what to do or get would be greatly appreciated. What tweeters do you recommend (from JB preferably as i have a gift voucher i need to use) and is it possible to mount them in the door?
I drive a VS exec...
Cheers
Weird...
Though sounds like a amp wiring ohm problem.
What is the Ohms load for the amp and how have you got your Sub wired serial or parallel??
Is it a DVC or SVC??
I would say that you have a 4 ohm on the amp when bridged and that they sub is wired at 2 ohms which will cause an issue at the mid volume.
Is the amp clipping or going into overload??
May be the amp as well as it does not like being operated as a triway amp... there are not alot of 4 channel amps that can be triwayed and this may be more likely the issue

Eh? his fronts arent amped if i read correctly, so how can an incorrect ohm load at the amp be effecting them? Wouldnt it more likely be a problem with the actual wiring itself?
What the? For the record he is not running triway! He is running in 3 channel mode which is fine provided the load is appropriate for the amp.

What I suggest you do is buy yourself a new set of speakers for up front. Take your 6x9's off the amp and re-wire them to your head unit. Now wire up your new speakers up front to the amp and listen to the improvement in your sound system!
*6x9's are made to produce bass, but you have a sub which makes them useless. Definitely no need to amp them anyway.
*Currently all your system's power is in the rear of your car, dragging your sound stage all the way back there. Music sounds heaps better coming from in front of you. Getting better speakers up front and giving them the power from the amp will bring your sound stage to the front of the car, it will sound heaps better.
*Run the 6x9's off your head unit so your back seat passengers can still enjoy the music when they're in the car with you. If they crackle then don't run them at all, sell them and leave the holes in the parcel shelf to act as ports to your boot... louder bass in the cabin!
when i first started reading this i was thinking it was a poor connection on the front speakers. Are they old/stock speakers?
also can you give some specs on the H/U, amp and wiring kit used on the amp. they could help us help you.
