    well thats a start, this would suggest the problem is with your rca's/headunit, did you make sure the sockets around the back of the headunit were for amplifier OUTPUT?? they could have been INPUTS for something else

    what amp is it by the way?

    my next question is. Is the speaker wire hooked upto the Output terminals or is hooked up Hi Level Input terminals? YOu want it hooked up to the output terminals.

    Let us know what head unit, amp, and sub/s you are using... That will make things a little easier for us to give advice.

    Your wiring should include;
    Power cable from battery to amp (fused no more than 1ft from the battery)
    Ground cable from amp to car chassis (same gauge as positive power cable)
    RCA cables from HU outputs to amp
    Remote wire from HU to amp
    Speaker wires from amp to sub/s

    It sounds like your power cabling (and ground) and remote are wired correctly because you say the amp is turning on. This leaves RCA's and speaker wires.
    Make sure your RCA's are connected properly... from the correct outputs on the HU to the correct inputs on the amp. (Tell us exactly how you have them wired)
    With your speaker wires, make sure the connections are good, with good contact of the copper in the terminals. Also if you have 2 subs, make sure they are both wired in the same polarity... positive to positive, and negative to negative on both subs. If they are running in opposite polarity they will cancel each other out. But you should be able to see if they are running when they're working, there will be some excursion.
