subwoofer in back wall of ute under tray

ive got a 96 vs ute and there is a 10 inch circle hole in behind the passenger seat whice obviously had a sub in it at one point before i bought the car, dose anyone have this same sort of set up in thier ute and do you need to build a box in behind it or can you use the cavity where the fuel tank as the box. i think i will need to make a box i just want to hear from someone who already has this in their car.

it is ok if you use a free air sub, if you got a hole then use it, though you may want to built a box depending on what you put in there.
