    Default hmmmm, jus a question

well the other day, i made a new sub box and was testing it out.
i turned the car on ( vl) and i left it idling. i gave it a bit of a rev to keep the power up.
i went round the back to the boot, to turn the sub amp up coz it was on low.
as i was turning the amp but, i turned it up to about 70% of the way. ( the master volume) then all of a sudden, my cars idle/revs dropped and the car stalled. so just the subs were still playing.
i dont no what happend. what could have caused this?
did i drain the power so much that the enigne stopped?
    i need a capacitor i think

get your alternator checked. Some older alternators are too "tired" to keep powering everything in the car AND maintain battery charge whilst sitting at idle.

Trust me on one thing. you DO NOT need a capacitor. You will be left with the same issue. Get your alternator charging capacity checked.

Thanks mate, a mate was telling me that a capacitor would be a good idea.
Or are they jus good if the car isn’t physically on, its jus on accessories?
Ill get the alternator checked next week, thanks again

caps dont hold that much power, its how fast they can discharge that power n regain it again. all they do is suppy ur amp with a more level amount power, no drops in voltages.

And it gives a bit of a storage for power, but mainly stops big draws from batt with a big bass punch, instead it draws wats in the cap n more if needed then the caps draws wat it needs to be charged.

    Too slow for 12volt.

and yeah i used one as a quick fix so i didnt have to do my engine ground only the batt ground

now if you had've done the engine to chassis ground upgrade you would've saved yourself the cost of the cap and your ENTIRE car electrical system will benefit.

so in other words, capacitors are a bit of a waste?
could i be doing damage if my alternator is tired but i keep using it?
