Cant wire my head unit in!! :(

hi everyone need help pretty urgently..
i bought my new VK on monday and took the old pioneer cd player it had in it out today, tried to wire up my Kenwood unit and it wont work!!
it has power, i know this because it will take a cd and eject it. but it wont light up etc, the screen wont work.
i know this is the illumination wire and its normally grey in VK's, but i cant find a grey wire anywhere!!
any help appreciated

have u got a fuse running in the pwr , also have u checked the ground and acc connections that could b ur problem as they run ur whole deck?

but if its not the illumination how come it takes the cd in and ejects it but its just the head unit wont light up

also ive neva heard of an illumination wire b4 i dnt think ther is 1, mayb im wrong?

the illumination wire could also probley go to ground not 100%

All the illumination wire does is dim your display SLIGHTLY when you turn your headlights on. It has nothing to do with making the display appear at all, you have another issue. I'd check your ACCESSORY wire, some head units will accept and eject disks with the key off, but won't turn on... So that might be the problem.

yeah check ya accesories wire. when my brother put a h/u in his vr the button lights would come on but the screen wouldnt. He got it checked out and it was a problem with the accesories.
