ok well i have been slowly setting up my vp with a decent sound system
i have got so far:
VDO head unit (4x50) + 4 preouts
2 x 6x9's Pioneer 360w max
12" pioneer sub 150w normal
response (think that’s the brand) 4x50w or 150 bridged
currently I have one channel on the amp bridged for my sub and the other 2 running the 6x9’s, but the current amp doesn’t like powering the sub and cuts out if its pumping too much base, so I was thinking of buying a new one but only to power the sub.
now i have obtained a set of speaker pods from a vs and would now like to run some 6" in the front.
I was thinking about buying a separate amp just for the sub, then using my current amp for my 6x9's and also the 6" in the front, should i get splits for the front?
I could either run it like that (with the 2 amps) or just buy a better 4 channel amp and run the 6” strait from the head unit, what do you guys think?
Thx
In my opinion its definately worth getting splits in the front.
And i would agree with what you said about getting another bigger amp for the sub and run your fronts and 6x9's off your current response amp.
With splits in the front the 6x9's will pretty much only be filling in sound in the back and are a bit of a waste of time, but since you already have them you might as well use them![]()
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people
definently use your 4 channel just 2 power the speakers, get a monoblock to power the subs, get something decent and a class d monoblock would be good ( class d amps have a good circuit and are hard to overheat), dont get alpines new range, a mate ran them at the summernats in the db comp ended up getting 149db but all the amps got real hot. if you have the 4 channel + monoblock and your splits u will have a crankin system
ok yea thx guys, planning on doing the install today (**** its hot, but ohwell). will the car battery be fine for running the 2 x amps? (seeing as im not using any real high wattage)
get splits for the front..........as someone said use class d monblocks for the subs..........use a 4 channel for the in cabin speakers...........dont bother with 6x9's when using subs.........they dont do a hell of alot..........use 6" components..........using bass producing speakers (6x9's) with a speaker that only produces bass (sub) is basically pointless as your sub will override the sound coming from your 6x9's especially because they are located one of top of the other (parcelshelf on top of the sub in the boot)............6x9's are basically only good for cars without subs that still want noise
i am running MTX splits in the front, alpine type r 6" components in the parcel shelf with speaker raisers, 2006 alpine cda9856 3 pre out head unit, a soundstream 350watt monoblock amp which powers a JL W3 V3 12" in a custom ported 72 litre box i made myself with the specs from the JL audio website and i have a 720watt 4 channel powering my in cabin speakers..........and a stinger splitter block splittin the power for the amps..........trust me investing in 6" components is a very good idea.........u will be amazed at the sound difference..........alot louder as 6" components are more treble speakers...........
yeah i use a standard car battery for all my stuff........two things though..........1) u will have to replace your battery every 9 months if you pump your stezza alot...........2) dont ever run your car stereo without the engine running unless you want your battery drained at a rapid rapid rate![]()
just get a good quality battery, something upwards of a deep cycle 600cca.. ive ran my stereo (just about 400w) for about half hour on 3/4 volume without any sign of getting a flat battery. and probably about an hour on a mates car with a bigger system...
ok, well i finished half of the install, still gotta do the other front door.
i only have the 6x9's cos thats what i started off with befroe the sub,
you will not need to replace you battery every 9 months, only if you manage to drain the battery and cause damage to it.
a normal battery will be fine. no 600CCA, deep cycle or anything. only bother looking at a deep cycle if you play your stereo for a long period of timew with the car off (crap idea, better to get a dual battery setup.)
apart from that, solid advice about amps has been given.
ah sorry thats what i meant.........like if you park your car somewhere and wanna pump the stezza for a while.........obviously u dont want your car sitting and idling for an hour or two............
You will find the sub is presenting a 2ohm load per channel of the amplifier, and I think that amp wont be stable running 2ohm bridged. I had this same problem with an Eclipse XA4000 running 2x PCW-15 Soundstream 15" subs from it.
