    Lightbulb how to remove my double din deck vx

    hey everyone

    just wondering how to remove a double din deck (stock) in my vx

    you will see 2 small holes on either side of the h/u, unless you can get your hands on holdens special tool, just get a coathanger (or something of similar gauge wire) and bend it to make a U-shaped tool for either side, then just make the wire prongs line up with the holes and push them in, this should release it and allow you to pull it out.

    Otherwise a good holden mechanic might do it for $20 or a six pack.

    Just to save you the $20/six-pack, it really is very, very simple to do.

    Also, you may find a VT-VX wiring harness makes the subsequent head unit an absolute cinch to install. I used this one.

    To give yourself some confidence first, make the coat-hanger U-bracket and try it yourself - pull the unit out and have a look behind it. Picture the wiring harness plugging into the existing plug there. It's all good

    Ah, the ever-useful coat hanger!

    Marvellous what uses they can be put to - if the guy who invented the coat hanger had patented it properly - although he's probably worth a fortune already - he could be worth MANY times as much.... (kinda wish it was me)
