umm well i am deff no expert but i think its not a good ides as u would have to cut the metal and thats illegal for 1 as it compromises the structial integrity of ur car and unless ur sub is free air then it wouldnt sound good unless it is concealed

Yeah i wouldnt do it, they need the box to make the bass, havin in there would just use a heap of pwr and produce buggar all, and u will have really bad sub wooble interferance.

They look good in there but it not practical, unless u were mounting one of those shallow pioneer subs, then u wouldnt have to cut the metal, if u put a fair size spacer inbetween.

But then y would u put a shallow one in, unless u needed the boot space but wanted sum bass.

Just box it, it will be alot better.

apart from the fact its illegal and if you get pulled over and the cops see it they will defect your car and it will be classed as a right off cause its not structually sound. theres the fact that if you dont get caught with it in there and get into some kind of accident your insurance company will walk away from you and you have to pay all damages yourself worth thinking about what if you hit a $500,000 rolls royce you will spend the rest of your life paying for that just something to think about

OK so u cut the hole of for it to fit and now u are boxing it up.

Y didnt u just put it in a box to start with and not worrry about havin it sittin thru the shelf.

I recon u will be changing it back to being in the boot, everyone i have seen do it, has wished they didnt. No Sub sounds good wen they are in the cabin (that ive heard) they always get that wooble.

Ohh yeah id just turn the sub thats in the shelf down a bit soo that it dont interferr with the others.

Seeing as u will be runnin 5 subs that one in the shelf wont create as much crap sound if it was by it self.

yeh cause i'll b having all 12" subs in the boot and i hav got a 10" in the shelf it will be doing different bass to the rest of the subs, so either i turn it down or dnt hav it connected at all.

Why would you disconnect it if you have gone to all the effort of mounting it in the parcel shelf and boxing it in?
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people

just a small question if you had decided to do it anyway why ask for peoples opinion as others have said your car is now unroadworthy, just hope you dont get pulled over by the police

dear lord you are going to regret doing that. Say goodbye to all insurance cover and the possibility of ever selling the car.

Luckily it is repairable by welding in new metal.

last guy i saw who cut out metal in rear shelf needed to cut the hole shelf out and reweld full new shelf in at a cost of 4700 bux so he could pass regency
also having difernt size subs dont mean ya system will be better or pump more in fact it will do the opposite
also too many subz not wired corectly will have backwards affect also
make sure ya got it all 100% corect

i think JB sell 8" or 10" subs that are made to sit on the parcel shelf and there in a box, but a really thin box.

Pancake Sup would of been alot safer/cheaper/better only bout 5cm's thick, could fit straight up on the parcell shelf without any cutting, but since u have already cut it, id start looking for a new car before rego comes around :P or move to SA were blueslips/pinkslips dont exist!! >
