Guys just a question, but how much did you all spend on your audio setup? I don't really know anything about car stereo systems, sub woofers, amps, anything like that. Luckily my room mate knows a bloody lot and can help me with any installations I need. I'm just wondering what you all think if the average cost for a good sound system. Personally I've never had anything but standard speakers and at most a $99 head deck from Supercheap Auto, but I've seen some head decks that sell for thousands of dollars. So all up, what did you guys pay?
my head deck cost me $139 dollars from super cheap and i got a hand me down amp n 2 hand me down kicker subs i just needto buy a box n the cable kit all up about $400 lol n it sounds alrite to me..
LIFES A GARDEN, DIG IT..lol

I'd have to say about $2,000 is a good mark for decent head unit, nice splits, good sub and suitable amps.
Unfortunately, i'm never happy with how it sounds and keep buying more and more expensive gear. Currently I have $11,700 worth (RRP) of gear for one system![]()
ive spent about 2000 all alpine 2x 6"split, 2 x 6", 2x 12" subs, mono block and 4 channel, and headunit,
what i've got so far:
Pioneer head deck: $220
EFX 100wrms, 300w peak 6" splits for front: $180
Pioneer 80wrms, 350w peak 6x9's for rear shelf: $120
Fibreglassed and vinyl'ed pods for 6x9's: $90
Cadence 2x12" 350wrms(x2), 700w peak(x2) subs: $375
total so far: $985.
Still need 2 4x100wrms amps ($600?), wiring kit ($150), 2 farad cap ($150?) + theres bound to be more... so roughly $1900 all up. F#%# i wish i didnt do all that adding up lol. As long as it sounds good when it's all installed it'll be worth it. But i'd still agree 1500 - 2K is a good budget to set out![]()
.. i've spent less than that (only just less) and i have a good head unit, good splits, good 6x9s, 3 amps (2x 2ch and 1x monoblock) and a 12" subOriginally Posted by les82
I have spent about $1200,
Pioneer DEH-6850 H/U = 349
Response 6" splits = 110
Response 6.5" = 95
Response 2 x 150 = 200
Response 4 x 50 = 160
Pioneer 306c in box = 195
All wiring I got for free from work, but add some cost on for stuff like Fuse holder ect.
Noe: system isn't fully installed yet. Hopefully will get around to it this weekend.
But 1500 should get you a half descent system, provided you dont have to pay for installation.

the worst is when you see an amp or a set of speakers you bought 6 months ago listed at around half the price you paid
