if i ordered a headunit from america do you know if it would be compatible with my vn?
cheers
The radio wont work
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people
is there any sort of converter i could get for that?
hahahah if the stations are 88 - 108 then yes it will work you need to find out bands
some usa ones do work
ALL USA radios will work in Australia and vice cersa.
The only real difference is the US models AM radio is fixed to 10kHz incriments, whereas our AM band goes up in 9kHz incriments. Apparently FM is slightly off too, so you may get some sibilance.
The US Pioneer Premier models are the equivalent of the Australian models, the US basic Pioneer models have slightly less features compared to the Aussie version.
You do realise that you get no warranty though? If you have even the slightest problem, you will be charged for any repair that Pioneer Australia has to do. You'd want to hope you don't damage the RCA fuse while installing it or don't mess up any of the speaker wiring because your savings by importing will go down the drain.
nope, FM is fine.
Did there use to be a problem though? The senior techs at my work have said several times that US radio tuners can have sibilance when picking up AU stations. I've always believed it to be current products.
go back 5-10 years ago and perhaps yes but nowadays? Not to my knowledge and I personally am using an AU headunit here in the US in of my cars and have no issues with noise.
At the end of the day, why would you bother getting a unit from America.
Most units are fairly well priced compared to the American ones locally in Australia.
Shoot me a pm and compare the price difference.

yes you can get a great deal from the US (60% off), but you need to know what your doing.
things such as postage costs, what is written on the outside of the postage box (to aviod customs attention and tax).
unless you really know what you are doing you will get burnt probably.
plus a few of the online shops need to have a US postage/billing address.
so would a head unit made in hong kong work alright in aus.?? just a question
LIFES A GARDEN, DIG IT..lol
most headunits are made in china!
lawl so true :P
There are only a few places in the world that use a slightly different range for FM. Even then, jaycar sell a product that simply attaches inline with the aerial to correct it.
