Default improving my vx stereo.. will this help?

Hi guys... was thinking of doing that mod to my VX stereo (anyone know the thread by any chance) where you put the RCA's in the back so you can connect a amp and sub to it (my mate did this to his VT and sounds much better).. anyways I dont want to spend too much and would really just like an improvement...

could you guys please tell me if this would be an improvement or if you think its worth the money..and would I be able to hook these speakers up as well?

Any help would greatly be appreciated as i basically know nothing about this.

    Many thanks

i wouldnt bother doing it just go out and buy a cheap 50x4 watt head unit and replace it with that. It makes the speakers go so much better. U can still put in a sub and amp, u dont need rca's for that just wire the sub and amp into the rear speakers

Really not too keen on throwing much money at it at all... couple of hundred at most.. mainly because im not too worried about my stereo, but would be prepared to spend a bit if i can make it sound a bit better..eg.. more bass.

i listen to a bit of techno/house/dance.. as well as a bit of metal/rock

    many thanks

ummm yeah... im sureeeeeeeeeeee the cheap 4x50 will have a good preamp in it... and that massive poweramp in it putting out a max of around 11wRMS is really gonna sound great when you crank it.. if you like clipping speakers of course

a amp is a FAR better idea... its dedicated, 4x50W rms amps can be had for fairly cheap these days, because its a power amp they all pretty much sound the same (altho they DO contain a preamp it usually only contains, GAIN, a HPF (highpass filter and a LPF (low pass filter) and sometimes a bass boost...

and anyway why would he want that big ugly space under the headunit??
sure you can get phone holders and stuff but still fabrication is required

ok well house and trance are almost at each end of the music scale.
house, yes a sub will improve it heaps.
trance/techno, you need high end! so better splits and an amp is essential.
    mate really a h/u is arouns $250-300
    speakers atleast $150
amp for speakers $200 or over
    sub $150 minimum
    amp for sub $250
    wiring $100ish
mdf for sub box $50. plus glue and screws.
    what are you thinking now?
