hi, ive installed a jbl amp and sub recently, using a decent wiring kit, but i cant work out why the amp wont turn on sometimes. ive checked with a multimeter that i hav 12v from battery, and 12v from headunit when swiched on.
ive noticed its usally in the morning when the car hasnt been started for a few hours. but works fine through the day?
any thoughts
btw fuses are also fine![]()
well if your sure its getting power from the battery and a h/u signal, and the amp's fuses & the inline fuse on the main power wire, that only leaves the earth, make sure it getting good contact with a metallic surface. other then that it would probably be an internal fault on the amp.
loose fuse..??
LIFES A GARDEN, DIG IT..lol
I would go over all of the wiring including fuses etc, making sure there arent any loose connections. Most amps will shut themselves down if they become too hot so check the temp of the amp. Did you check the voltage at the amp when it is not working? If you have 12V there, check the remote signal wire at the amp with reference to earth. You should have 12v there too. If you have 12V power and 12V signal, and the amp doesnt have any life, I would be blaming the amp.
happened to me too . its a bad earth try to see what srt of reading your getting with that earth otherwise find another earth point
