    Default Remote wire

Im currently installing an amp & subs in a VT calais. The RCA cables im using have a "drain wire" or "on-off trigger". Is this the remote wire ie. does it plug into the remote slot in my amp?? If not what do i do with it.
This is what the drain wire looks like: (the u-shaped wire on the bottom left)

Sorry bout the newbie questions first time installing a system.

Exactly - it's best used for the remote trigger signal for your amp. Connect it from the "remote" wire out of your head unit, to the "remote" terminal on your amp.

Many will disagree and warn of this inducing interference, but I've yet to have a scientific explanation os to why this would be. I've never had any problems with it, through numerous installs. (I've used those very RCA cables you have in your pic)

    Best of luck. Cheerz!

I like to do something a little different with that cable.

I like to earth one end out against the headunit and the other end out against the amplifier and then run a seperate cable for the trigger.

I have never introduced noise into a system since using it as a ground loop remover.

    This is me personally.

I second that, earth each end to help with grounding noises that quite often appear with cheaper cables. run a seperate and better quality power wire for you remote trigger

actually the trigger wire can be any hunk of cable you want! I typically use a length of speaker wire half the length required and then split it down and join it together to give me enough length.

Using that wire in the RCAs is perfectly acceptable to do also.

Yeah good idea using it for earth between the headunit and amp I reakon I allways run the rca's on the opposite side of the car to the power wires so not to cause any interferance .

The RCA's already have two earth links between the amp and head unit, the outer ring of the RCA is the ground link so there is no NEED to use the spare wire as a ground link... But if t makes you feel better, go for it

See, that whats I always figured StoneX but I have been in multiple situations where I have a slight amount of noise added into the system and by doing this it has cleared it up a little or removed it entirely. It didn't make a great deal of sense as I was under the same theory. Why add another Earth? But after trying everything that should've worked and getting no results then doing this and seeing a result I wasn't sure how else to justify it.
