Do you still have the stock speakers? If so i'd change 'em out...the stock speakers are horrid.

yeah still have the stock speakers, though the calais speakers are pretty good for for stockers. may change them later, not sure. could the new deck handle the 8 speakers or do the calais have amps built into the factory wiring? or do i need a seprate amp?

The Calais (vt anyhow) has an amp behind the left hand side pannel in the boot. I've put a 7" double din dvd player in and it sounded ok with standard stuff, but its a huge improvement after ripping all the stock stuff out and putting in Focal Gear

CHEERS, dont supose u remember which colour the signal wire was? did u need a a seperate up and down wire from the deck to feed the aireal? and lastly were you able to rewire all the steering controls into the new deck?

Since your using the factory wiring get a wiring harness such as this
Ryda Car Audio - Aerpro Holden Commodore Vt-Vx Wiring Harness
And the colour wires from the new deck will pretty much match the harness wires.

With aftermarket decks you will lose the use of the steering wheel controlls. Unless you buy an adaptor most of which just convert your buttons to as if they are an Infared Remote Controll. Such as this one

    Question

got a harness from supercheap, doesnt seem to have a 12v output wire in it but thats no biggy, on thing that has me stumped is the antenna wire, the factory wiring has up and down though the deck only has one antenna wire, i can use this for the up but how do u feed the down?
