Default electric antenna with pioneer HU

    Hey all,

Im thinking of getting an electric antenna installed in my VT commodore that has a pioneer HU. Now I heard that with the pioneers the aerial will stay up all the time EVEN if the radio is off and im listening to a CD, Is this correct?

    may not help you but:
i have a vx, with a Pansonic CD player and it sends the areial up only when radio is on,
execpt it broke the other day and is stuck in the up position, but before that it was all good, from memory it was a blue cable, all cd players have them these days.

all depends on what type of eurovox u have, on the calais u have up and down control on the h/u which means u have and up and a down wire in the loom, so if connected the aireal output to the up wire the aireal stays up the hole time the stereo is on no, matter wether its radio or cd/dvd. if you only have one aireal wire on the factory loom then it depends on the output of the new hu to how your aireal will operate ,if the output is only supplyd when the radio is on the it will work as normal.

have a look on the pioneer loom usually u will only have a remote wire but with some models u can get both a remote wire and an antena wire if u have only 1 and ur remote wire is used 4 ur amps or somthing then u will need 2 splice into that run new wire 2 the arieal put in a switch so u can have it up n down wen eva u wish.

altenative u can get the arieal 2 work only wen the radio is on if u dont have an extra arieal wire but its a bit of muckin round u need 2 find a technition who knows their pioneer HU's and directly wire a new wire on the PCB bored but finding it isnt easy ive been told

All Pioneer's (except for the new navigation unit) only have a "remote wire" so the antenna will be up whenever the head unit is on, even when playing CDs. You can put a manual switch in the remote line to turn off the antenna when listening to CDs if it bothers you being up.

id imagine ud have 2 find the module 4 the aerial and wire it through that 4 it 2 b able 2 use the buttons i have 2 try do this with the VP soon wen i get a new HU 4 it, but that just means u'll only b able 2 put it up n down with those buttons wen eva u want not wen the radio turns on n off
