Default removing factory h/u out of vp

    ey guys
im getting my new h/u on wednesday, and i wanna know how to remove the old h/u (its factory) now i read the sticky but that involves basically removing most of the interior which i dont wanna do... ive notice that its got slots on either side of it can just keys or a coat hanger to pull it out??

or is ther other ways of removing it???

    thanks in advance

Basically...... no. The HU is screwed down to the console and you need to remove the trim to get to it.

No worries, the upside is once you have done it a few times it gets pretty easy.

Nope not really, you'd more than likely break some screw mounts if you tried to do it without removing anything. It's literally a 15 min job to take the whole lot off anyway.

glovebox doesnt need to be touched.........just the centre console..........very very easy to take apart and put back together.............you may possibly need some spacers so the new head unit doesnt sit too deep in the console.........sometimes you do sometimes you dont..........i did on my Alpine CDA-9856 just so it would be too sunken into the console and look silly.........if you are running it with subs and have a 3 RCA output unit it can be a tight squeeze behind the headunit with RCA's etc

Yeah I was going to add that, you really need to access those screws on the sides of the console.

You dont have to remove the glove box though... just open it, the screws are accessable, same with the glove box cover, however, its easy to remove so why not...

And its longer than 15mins, that centre console is a bitch to remove unless youve modded it like mine for quick release

I can get you HU out in 20secs flat, quesiton is do you still want ot have interior trim?

    aZk.

PS. Read that how to, its really good.

Agreed that guide is damn good, follow it and you can't really go wrong. The bottom screw on the left of the console is a bit tight to get to with the glove box in place, but as you have mentioned above, the glove box is easy to remove, so why not remove it?

mounting aint hard mate, DIY and save some cash. just line it up and drill a couple new holes in the stock brackets. 10 mins and your done!

what is it? you dont need to take the drill anywhere near to h/u. just line the stocko brackets from the old h/u onto the new one. easier if you put them side-by-side and then mark the new holes on the brackets. drill, done!! , from memery you only need to drill one hole in each bracket and the other should line up.

Crikey, I hope you have it listed on your insurance! You're just asking for it to be nabbed that way.
