Hello All
My first ever post.
I'm looking for options to play my lap top and DVD player's sound through the car stereo.
I have tried two different cassette adapters but to no avail.
Has anyone sucedded in doing this without having to spend big money?
I got the C2 2002 v8 Monaro
I do some long trips and 10 CD just don't cut it.
could be an idea to look at a FM transmitter.
you can get ones that plug into a usb port and broadcasts your computers sound to a radio station
Depends what you call big money, I guess. An FM transmitter is probably your cheapest option - they just transmit your input sound from a 3.5mm headphone jack to a specified radio frequency, so you can tune your radio to your own private radio station. The sound quality is rather variable depending on the model of car, quality of transmitter and distance to your aerial. They can cost anywhere from $30-80.
For a better solution, you can have your factory CD player modified to accept inputs, which Phreddy on this forum can do. Check out ASR in the sponser's forums for details and prices.
Or you can replace your Blaupunkt head unit with one that accepts external sources. This can cost as little as $200 for a basic MP3 capable head unit with auxiliary input or as much as $1500 of a DVD player with a touch screen, or even $4000 for a entertainment system with built-in GPS navigation and hard drive. There are lots of different models and features for you to choose from. You will lose your steering wheel controls unless you also have an adapter fitted.
Choose your price range and have fun shopping.

or get a new unit.
also just a thought if you got a bluetooth enabled h/u that supports AD2P (or what ever the stupid acronem is for bluetooth streaming) you could just get the laptop to stream to the h/u.
