g'day guys,
Im trying to make or buy a a system, but i dont know if such a think exists, ill i want is a way to change volumn and what not without actually being a cd player, i just want it to play on a 3.5mm stereo jack. Does such a thing exist, i have no insurance and i just want to basically deter theifs
buy a little red l.e.d light and put it on your dash somewhere, also ive been hearing of people using a button of their choise eg. rear window dimister. too start the engine. sorry that didnt make sense you have too have the selected button pushed in too start your engine (you still need the key) so theifs will never be able too make way with your car.
well you could just use an amp but to set it up it would just be a pain in the arse, for the trouble just buy a ****ty cd player.
burnout bro:if the thief knows anything he will be able to disable your kill switch and drive away in under a few minutes. a fully black harness alarm with 3 or more imob points will slow him down more but it still will not take long at all to drive away with the car. pretty much if they want the car they can get it if they are good enough.
Exactly, my uncle had an old SLR5000 torana and he used to take the distributor cap and everything inside with him so they couldnt pinch it, as well as having kill switches and an immobiliser. But they came along and put it on the back of a tow truck and he never saw it again.
if they are that good they wouldnt be stealing a vr in the first place the torana i can understand.
hmmm.... yep glad you are that optimistic!
To answer the original question, which Garfa sort of answered:
Yes, you can do this - you can use a 3.5mm to RCA cord ($10 at your local audio store) and plug it directly into an amplifier. You will also need a switch to turn your amp on and off as the head unit normally controls this. You can use your iPod or whatever to control volume. If you get an amp with remote gain control you could use that instead/as well.
The ironic part is that the cost of an amp, wiring etc is likely to be more expensive and difficult to fit than just buying a cheap CD player with aux input. A cheap CD player generally looks pretty awful so that should deter thieves as much as anything else will.
If you're serious about security, an alarm and immobiliser is probably money well spent - it won't stop the serious thieves but it should slow down joy-riders and amateurs for a while.
