It's **** easy... pull the dash apart... no it's not hard at all, just time consuming... you'll find a thread on here somewhere. I had the standard double din unit... a scored a plastic pocket to take up the space as i added a single din unit, and screwed into the existing cage..easy. And put her all back together... don't do shortcuts, just take the dash out, it really is easy, anyone that tells you otherwise ain't done it before.

yeh just pop rivet the cage in at both sides and the head unit will clip into the cage and you need the 2 little slide things that come with the h/u to get it out

    Cool

just replaced mine but replaced it with a double din touch screen monitor dvd radio tv ect ect ect
the hard or tedious part was making the din surround but what i did was take the face panel off of the original unit with a dremel carefully cut out to shape so that you are left with one big hole and that it slides onto the new unit tightly
this way there are no gaps around unit and looks as if meant to be there
also to remove the radio i used 4 nails that were large but not to large to go into the holes to release the locking mechanism (couldnt see point paying for so called tool)

    Sorry to hijack the thread.

Thanks so much for that info Roby , just about to replace my headunit in my VT Calais. I was wondering about that tool, I have the harness already so I will probably do the install in a few weeks. I will do a guide if you like and post it up.

I just used a hammer to give the VT cage a shunt in all 4 directions, and then riveted the Head Units cage in place.

You can then use the Hu's clips to lock it in place. It becomes easily removable with the correct tool and secure as can be expected.

VT cages are 3 mm too small for nearly all Aftermarket Hu's.

    Mr Hammer always fixes it.

Yea I had to give my VT cage a little love tap as well I didn't end up riveting it though, it fit snugly enough as it is. It wont make much of a difference in regards to theft deterrence as you can unclip the h/u out of its cage with a small screwdriver anyway.

ya can make the cans fit without hitting with a hammer
the prob is when ya hit them as cars get older the bulbs blow behind dials and then youll be stripping it all out again to fix them

Hey guys and girls, I've bought an elcheapo double din touch screen DVD player from ebay and it doesn't fit snug... there's gaps and it slides out all the time. My insurance will cover it if it is stolen but it looks fugly because it's so loose and has those gaps.

I've seen the aftermarket double din fitting kits for VY/VZ but not for VT's, has anyone else had this problem or knows where I can get something to make it fit without gaps, nice and snug like?
    Thanks. - Rowan.
