Default Recommend me some splits for $180

Hi, Going speaker shopping on Friday, Looking for some front 6" splits.

Can anybody recommend me something under $180? I was thinking to keep it all Clarion, as it currently is. But want to get the best bang for buck.

they will be running of a 4ch amp, 50wrms@4Ohm/100wrms@2Ohm.

    Cheers.

You get what you pay for basically.

You spend cheap you get cheap sound.

Spend a bit extra and get some Alpine type r splits.

Well i went shopping today, Listened to a few good ones for my price. Was a toss up on JBL or Alpine, but ended up going Alpine Type S splits. got em for $180 also got a new headunit, Pioneer DEH P3950MP cheapie. Also an electric antenna. Going to have fun wiring it all up, but the Splits didnt come with speaker wire!! Well not for the woofer....

I got some of that really thin stuff lying around but is that OK to use running off an amp?

    Cheers

Yeh i have some good stuff but not enough to run down both sides ill have to grab some more.

I just modified my VS speaker pods to fit the woofers, now that the backing is cut off to fit the magnet how can i prevent water damage on them, anyone for ideas??

Also where are some good spots for tweeter & crossovers?

    cheers.

tweeters can be flush mounted in the door vents or in the corners of the dash.
x-overs should be screwed on to the top of the black plastic guards under the glovebox and steering column.
i wouldn't be too concerned about water damage. just make sure the drain in the bottom of the door is always clear.
