Howdy y'all
I'd like to invest in a head-unit with USB interface. Digital storage is dirt cheap nowdays so i though a 4GB flashdrive would be pretty cool to have my music on, and it'd be hell easy to switch songs over from my computer, rather than burn CDs for every couple of new songs i get.
Now, i've looked at a heap of different models but cant really find information on how the music is played. For example, i can skip through my MP3 CDs folder-by-folder on my current h/u, but could i search through a flashdrive in the same way (folder-by-folder)? Also, are ID3 tags displayed in the same way and are the shuffle/repeat options the same?
I would prefer not to spend anymore than $350. Currently i have a Sony MP3 (i didnt know the brand from a bar of soap when i bought it), however, i've been really pleased with it, only critisism is the single pre-out. I'd go back to Sony but i'd like to hear others' opinions of other USB-compatiable brands first.
cheers
JVC seem to be a go-er for cheaper usb unit. they are really pushing the usb port with all of their models ATM.
i would go for jvc over sony simply because you seem to get more features with jvc.
the music will be played same as an mp3 cd. so all the repeat and suffle will be the same. id3 tags wil definately be supported. i assume the search will be same as an mp3 cd as well.
I have a JVC KD-G725 USB head unit (close to year old now) and i love it. The music is sorted, played and displayed exactly the same way as an mp3 CD.
Clarion DB365USB is super cheap
