hello everyone,
I have a VR commodore and would like to put a subwoofer in it, a head deck and run the stock speakers off it. I have a gas tank fitted behind the seats and i was just wondering if the gas tank will "block" out the bass from the subwoofer? For you guys who have a gas tank fitted behind the seat and have a subwoofer in the boot, does it overall block out the bass coming into the cabin or is it barely noticeable?
thanks,
My car audio:
CD tuner: Alpine CDA-9884E with Ipod interface
Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
hey mate your in luck i had a vr with a gas tank behind the rear seat aswell with a 15 inch sub in the boot, and no it doesnt block any bass, it still gave me a massage whilst drivingso dont sorry all will be good with a sub.

i used to run subs in my old car with lpg and didnt lose much if any bass. If you're really concerned remove the rear speakers and use the gaps as 'port holes'. I doubt it'd make that much difference though
My gas tank doesn't seem to make a difference to the amount of bass in the cabin, I cant wait till I have the time to get rid of the thing though.
i got a gas tank in my car and it doesnt seem to stop the bass, we still feel the bass in our back chest and arse
