hey
just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a good sub and amp to run it, that would suit what i currently have.
sony xm-sd14x amp
sony CDX-GT700D head unit
jbl gto637 6"'s for the rear
jbl gto607c splits for the front
i dont know atm wether to go with one sub or get 2 subs. just depends on the cost.
any input would be great.
having a wagon you've got unlimited potential for a big system. it would be wise to decide what you want in the long run before you rush out and buy something as i often find adding bass to a system just leaves you wanting more and more. you dont want to be left with craphouse subs or underpowered amps sitting in the garage.
definately dont want **** subs n amps. i was looking more midrange. hopefully pick it all up 4 round 500
if 500 is your max for both sub and amp, your in low spec territory but you'll still get gear that'll do the job.
Does the 500 include a box/upgrades to wiring if required? or is that not apart of this budget?
"The crisis of today is the joke of tomorrow" HG Wells
ive alrdy done all the wiring when i installed my speakers n headunit. i do need a box though.
i reckon could get the wagon rockin for $500. i think fusion has a powerplant bass pack going for sort of coin or a bit more. from what i can remember you get a 12" powerplant dvc sub in a box, powerplant amp and wiring kit. so might be something to think about
$500, can you expand that budget a bit more.
a few extra hundred will go a LONG way, especially with a sub $1000 budget.
another couple of hundred woulnt be a problem, jus means i cant get it as soon.
but i aint in a real hurry anyway. wanna get my windows tinted first, sun drives me ****ing mad
first off get rid of any sony products there ****house thats the first thing u should do be4 getting anything

i'd go with response amps if your on a budget. spend $250, $200 if your lucky on a monoblock and you've got $300 to play with for a sub
agree with evaN. dont get a cheap amp, just something that will do the job and not break. then spend as much as possible on the sub and get a good box made specifically for the sub.
joey: well mate i know i would rather MY speakers amped than HAVE NO AMP AT ALL with jl splits. be a bit more constructive next time.
i agree that sony doesnt put out the best car audio gear but realistically not everyone can afford, nor wants a huge, high quality system. its pretty obvious clyde is working on a budget so i think its unreasonable to just say 'give all your sony stuff the ass before you get anything'.
yeah id also recommend working out how much you want to spend total, and put the majority of that toward a good amp and spend the residual on a sub in a good box. i think a lot of people overlook the importance of having good enclosures these days. i can put you on to a guy that makes awesome boxes for all types and combos. pm me if your interested.
well ur gunna be running em off the amp and thre gunna be **** anyway so wats the point and i run my JL's off the deck because i dont crank my sterio and at low volume there perfect and waiting for my new car no point chuckin stuff in2 this one cheers GARFA--------- as for budjet speakers jus wait til xmas is over then the drop all there old stock down jus get em then if ur on a buget

not the biggest fan of sony either. but i got it cheap, and imo sounds alright.
i do notice however that any bass sounds ****house. all my treble and mid range is great though. so thats why i was gonna get a sub, figured it would fix this.
i reckon my budget for my sub, amp, and box would be around 600-700. hopfully i can pick somthing fairly decent up at that price.
i would probably alocate a budget like this for around $700 total:
amp $250-300
sub $250-300
wiring $60
box $80-100
i can go into specific brands and what not but whatever.
thanks man
if you could go into good brands that would be great to. im kinnda new t the car audio thing so i dont have to much of an idea yet.
you could get a fusion powerplant 12" for around that money, thats what i would recommend. i think a jaycar amp would be advisable for quality on a budget, could probably pick up one of their small monos or a 2 channel for around $300. for wiring you'll have to settle for aerpro or something... itll do the job
working on a budget i would recommend getting a few quotes on all the components that fit the price range you want to spend, then compare specs. if you have your heart set on particular brands/types you'll usually be disappointed with the cost.
double woops
yer man
brands dont bother me abit. long as it sounds good. im thinkin of replacing my sony amp 2, but ill keep the hu, i like it. but thats later on. saving is the bitch but, just wish i didnt hav to pay off the car at the same time lol. also wat r the best shops to go to for audio. we only hav strathies, autobarn and jb hi fi. i find jb ****.
from the shops i have to choose from in my area, i find wow to be the best for price and range. ive heard jb is pretty good too, its only just opened locally buti havent really had a look in there yet. r u plannin to do all your own install?
yer definately self install
if you dont mind buying things off the net, there is a store in the sydney area which sells really cheap audio gear and sells it in there store and on the net. Sometimes the headunits are like $300 cheaper than jb's price message me if you want the site cause not sure if allowed to post on here. the only thing is though they dont sell alpine.

powerplants!! xD heh im a bit partial..... but that response 2 channel bridged should get either of those subs (in a good box) pumping pretty damn good. ive never had response myself but have always heard they are good bang for buck, especially their amps. GL
