    Default VX Speaker Setup Help...

hi, currently have a 2000 vx lumina (executive) and am thinking of changing the stock speakers etc. just wondering what everyone reccomends as i want a decent system as cheap as possible. i was firstly thinking of changing the head unit but am unsure on the setups and sizes for the front and rear door speakers. i do want some good bass but do not nessesarilay want a sub or not right not anyways. so what would be good for good bass and generally good sound on a decent budget. Would i also need amps or are these not essential.
    thanks heaps

Hey mate, first of all, you really kinda need to know what you want to spend. Decent and cheap mean alot of different things to different people.

First of all your head unit, you can get a single din unit and put a pocket in, look something like this ImageShack - Hosting :: pa180030dt6.jpg ,similarly you can fit a double din screen in if thats what you wanted.. 6"s fit easily into the doors and 6" or 6x9's into the back shelf..

Like i said, price is your main factor, put a new HU in (anywhere from $200-$600, mp3 playback etc) and some decent 6" and 6x9s (would highly recommend alpine type R), that kind of setup would set you back at least $800 dependin on HU. Then you can chuck in a 4 channel amp to power them, add a sub and second amp later.

Your better off spending the money on quality speakers and adding the sub later then trying to squeeze it all under a certain price point and sacrificing quality.

well around $340 for the double din headunit (cheapest one ive seen). dont really want to spend more than $800 installed. im not sure how much they charge to get it installed.
