Hi guys,
Just wondering how important is sound deadening. I am getting these speakers for my VT and was just going to put them instead if my old stock speakers, Is there more to this when upgrading a cars speakers, or will I be required to do something else.
I may get this done by a pro, but if its easy may attempt it on my own. Have heard u dont need to take entire trim off when installing in a VT just lift corner of trim once all screws removed and replace speaker? Is this true? Anyway let me all know what u think in regards to this matter.
Cheers,

let me know how these speakers are, i been contemplating, getting some jaycar (response i think they are called) speakers. probably 6X9's though
the guys that do install at places like strathies aint rly professionals, they have no quals in car stereo install, and will mosst likly just butcher ur car.
when i got my car 2nd hand it alrdy had a sound system in it. guy said he had it done at strathies. i replaced it recently with my own, the amount of cracked dash and missing screws was insane.
just a warning![]()
those speakers are pretty good, i use jvc fs6's which are extremely similar in design and they rock...i also used sound deadening, but just inside my trim not so much on the metal...it still made a difference. get a gregorys manual or whatever and rip everything off yourself. we all know a few tips and tricks u just gotta ask.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
you cannot say that all places like strathfield and whatever are all like that, think before you right stupid coments like this, you dont need any qualifications to be an audio installer.
yes you dont need qualification to put stuff in to a car. but you will get a better job if the person has had formal training then experience.
jb and strath dont have as good a rep with installations as gerenally dedicated stores do, because they seem to have more complaints about the quality of the work.
sure take your car to jb but there is more chance of it getting butchered than a dedicated store.
anyways, i have heard great things from users about the jaycar splits and from what i have heard off sound boards and a car or 2 i would go with them over alpine type r and most speakres around that range.
For the price, the jaycar splits are pretty good. I know a few people with them and none have said anything bad about them
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people
what about the 6x9's? do they put out good bass?
yes they do, i install all my things as i know i would do a better job than most places, for tuning and other things i use my friends car audio shop, i have another friend who is a very good custom installer who has just moved to strathfield as its better money, and in canberra you dont need any qualifications too be an audio installer.
Don't waste your time and money on 6x9's... spend that money on a set of good splits (Jaycar's are great if you don't have much to spend). Then save a little more and get yourself a sub and amp for some real bass. Rear fill speakers are basically useless if you have a good set up of front splits and sub in the boot..
