Ok, i'm getting towards starting work on my vl's sound system (well, by that i mean im getting towards starting work on the interior trimming and making up the rear parcel shelf/front door pods)
Ok. I would like to do the whole system once and with decent equipment and a good overall sound. What sort of speakers should i be looking at too match everything up right? (full frequency response stuff 8-))
In the front door pods i was looking at some 6" splits. Dash some decent 4" (otherwise just leave the dash speakers out?)
Rear parcel shelf thinking of perhaps 4x6" 2 ways.
Boot a pair of 12" rear facing subs.
Monoblock for the subs and 2x4ch amps for the 8 speakers in the cabin.
This is just a really rough guesstimate on the overall setup.
Ummm..... Any advice would be much appreciated. Basically i would like good response across as much range as possible.
Thanks.
More speakers doesnt necessarily mean better sound/ louder volume. You would be better off investing in 2 decent sets rather than 4 average ones.. Personally id go for 6" splits up the front, mount the tweeters where you're talking about 4" in. I'd probably go for a 6.5" in the back as well, but remember you drive the car so you want the best quality in the front of the car.. And then all you need is one 4 channel to power the speakers..
id go with the front splits, and rear 6".
Only reason I was thinking the 4x6"s in the back is i have an idea for a parcel shelf that lends itself to that rather well. Guess 2 would work just as well.
Was gonna mount the 6" splits in custom pods on the door trims.
Something i dont know about is 6" vs 4" for mid range etc. Is it a better idea to get just a simple 6" woofer, 4" woofer and 2" tweeter all seperate and then set up crossovers or would an off the shelf 6" split work better?
I dont know a huge amount about sound theory and stuff..... so umm yeah![]()
i dont claim to know a **** load either, but i know iam very happy with the sound quailty that come out of my splits in the front. mid and hight range are great, however the low range sucks, but thats what you get your sub for. (although mines still waiting for me to get off my ass and make the box).
clyde, you deadened and sealed your doors?
