    Default jay caramp problem

    hey u know how the jay car amp was mentioned i have a 800 mono block jaycar amp and at the moment the protection light is coming on and this is the second time this has happened i had the amp for 2 months it kept coming on the guy at the shop checked my wiring it was fine the position allows enough air for it and i got a replacement amp cause i was wrecked so i got my new one and now about 2 or months later its happening again not happy at all. my wiring is perfect i don't know what it is i works and then just cuts out when ever it wonts and when u want to look at it to check it out it works fine really annoying! any answer much thankful.

    hey buddy check that your sub/s dont have a warped or damaged voice coil as this will cause amp to flick protection. if the voice coil is fine try starting the car and test the voltage that is at the amp when the car is running , if the voltage drops below 10.5 the jay car amp will flick protection to protect itself from damage. it may also be the voltage spiking if your volt regulator is not working properly . these are just the basic ones i can think of either that or the amp has an internl problem. i have had jay car amps before with no problems at all. good luck with it buddy

    I dont think the amp would be the source of the problem as he said he got a replacment amp and it did the same thing.

    Golden, i know you said you checked your wiring, but the contact on the ground cable may be causing the problem. Make sure its on a nice, clean steel surface.

    If its one of the newer style jaycar amps they have problems with the fuse. Put a better fuse in and see how it go's

    thanks for the info guys, the amp hasnt done it for a while since i wrote up this thread so i dont know but i will make a better contact for my earth and yeah see how it goes, i'll keep u up to date. cheers.
