I have been given the opportunity to obtain a standard 6 stacker from a VY to put into a VZ (to keep she who must be obeyed happy). I have had contact with my local holden dealer who was not much help, I know it fits and is easy to remove etc, but my question is will it be compatable with the VZ? I have read that the BCM will need to be reprogrammed to recognise the new unit, but the local dealer indicated that he thinks that it will not work. He also stated that they have never done one before and wants the charge the full hourly rate (about $80) to just have a look at it and see if he can do it!!! Any suggestions???
should swap over and should only need the security pin

holden charge $30 for the pin code had to get mine the other day for the guy who bought it off me. luckily the chick was nice and gave it to me for nothing.
Following on from my original post, the saga continues. I have the pn for the six stacker I got to replace my single one. PIN didnt work, contacted holden again and they are adament that a VY unit will not got into a VZ due to the way a vz is wired!!! Can any body help??? They said nothing can be done other then to sell the unit to someone with a VY!!!!!!![]()
the wiring of the connectors is identical, exactly what happened when you tried to fire it up?
Rob
the unit will power up, that stacker mechanism will go thru it's motions, then it asks for the pin, it will not accept the pin, even though it is definitely the right pin.
Hmmm - your procedure is perfect. I wonder if maybe you weren't give the "radio PIN", but the "Security code" from the original wallet card. (they are both 4 digit numbers, maybe you were given the wrong one?)
As for the dealer telling you that the wiring is different - that sounds to me like a cop-out. (if Doc Bob says they're the same, then they're the same!!) I actually had a dealer tell me once that the units from VY and VZ are physically a different size, and won't fit in the cradle! That's up to about the usual standard of the advice from dealers anyway. I take what they say with a very LARGE grain of salt.
And I guess now the bloke who sold it to you doesn't want to know??

It just reverts to the pin entry screen with login 2 or 3 depending on how many times i've tried, after three attempts it locks you out from trying for one hour.
The guy I bought it from, got the pin double checked with the dealer he got his maloo from, so he has been good so far.
you may need to confirm the pin by getting the serial number on the unit checked.
if you can get me the vin from the original vehicle it came from & the serial number off the radio i can probably check if it is correct.
the only other possibility is that the VZ BCM handles the pin differently. if the pin is different in the bcm (needs to be programmed with tech2) it may disable the radio, but i dont think so normally it just means the pin needs to be entered if the unit has been powered down.
i would suspect the pin is wrong, the unit may have been changed & the database not updated.

hey man did u get it working???
I am in the process of getting the vin number, so will repost as soon as I have got it. cheers
Hey mate, Cant help, but was wondering how much you managed to get it for. I was wanting to put the 6 stack version in my VY. Has anyone seen one for sale recenly?
Have finally got the VIN, it's 6G1YK42F84L189843 and the serail number of the unit is BP 2256 41241707, the other numbers on the unit are LP 8 635 123 247 2 as well as 92 118 704. this last one is on a sticker on the back of the unit. cheers![]()

Hey Wmov, I got it for $226. Thing is, if I had a Vy it would have powered straight up! D'oh. I will sell it if I cant get it to work in the VZ!!!
