reverse mounted subs

hey guys i've got a alpine sub and in the midst of building a custom boot and box for it. If i reverse mount it do i have to make the box bigger or smaller? seeing i have no clue with reverse mounting thanks

as the spkr doesnt take up as much room

the box i am making is custom just about to start making it, so i should make it smaller than the recomended size

Generally sub manufacturers recommend boxes that are on the small side for the driver in question - for marketing reasons naturally. Sealed box you've got a bit of leeway
