Hey everyone, i bought a fusion pack which has a 2chan amp and a sub.
Fair enough it gave me all the wiring i needed to hook it up.
Now the guy at the store told me i needed this little distributor to split my power cable because i have two amps.
Bought a 4 channel for my speakers.
But anyway i realised the power cable i have ran through is a 8 gauge power cable supplied with my amp/sub combo.
I am planning to use that as my mains power from the battery.
Would it be ok to split it using a distributor block to the other amp???
The other amp is a 50wrmsx4 clarion and my sub amp only puts out 180wrms.
Should it be ok with that cable split with a distributor??
Thanks in advance guys!

Yes it'll b fine i had this set up in the old magna n had no problems at all the only difference with mine was that my distributor block was fused so both amps were still protected and didnt need 2 add ne extra fuses in line. I have the same set up in the VT except i have 2 gauge wire running from the battery 2 the fused distributor block and then have 2 8 guage wires running 2 both amps.

Both my amps have fuses in them, and i have a close to the battery.
The 8 gauge cable will run into the distributor and then the 2 cables will go out. Not sure what gauge though....I bought a bit from repco.
What may happen if the gauge wire is not big enough, im still a little scared about trying it.,...
Whats the worst that could happen, just blow a fuse?

hmmm in not too sure if running 8ga before the distributor block is a good idea. but it depends on how much current both amps combined will draw and how much current the cable can handle. most setups iv seen have 2 or 4 gauge as the main cable then 8ga to the amps after the distributor block.
just remember.. your not protecting your amps, your protecting the cable. the amps will be fine (hence fuse/s on the amps).

mmmm ****.
Maybe ill just connect up my sub for now...until i bother to get better cable...i dont like the sound of having that big risk.
Ill just update to 4gauage wire i think. use the current 8 gauge for outta the distributor.
What a spew, i just put all the 8 gauage wire from the battery and everything like two days ago.
Gonna be a huge pain to take it all out and put a bigger thicker wire.![]()

worst that could hapen is you burn your car down 8 gauge is ok for small installs like yours.
Basically the bigger the current draw the bigger the cable needs to be or the cable gets way to hot and melts, you could use 4 gauge before the distrubition box
hope this helps
(taken from crutchfieldadvisor.com)Cable Gauge Chart
To determine the approximate current draw (in amperes) of your amplifier (or amplifiers), you must calculate first the total power of each amp (multiply the number of channels by the number of RMS watts per channel). If you have multiple amps, add up the total power figures to arrive at a grand total. Next, double your grand total power figure. Then, divide by 13.8.
The resulting figure is your system's approximate current draw. Compare this number to the numbers in the "Amperes" column in the chart below. Cross-reference with the cable length (the distance from your battery to the amp mounting location) to determine which gauge of cable you need.

Should i just go with the better safe then sorry approach and rip out the 8 gauge put in the 4 and use the 8 from the distrib?
These are the wrms from my amps atm.
4x50wmrs = 200
and a 2chan amp bridged at 180wrms.
So i have a 380wrms system running from the batt to the fusion fuse that was included, to the distrib to more 8 gauge wire.
So...what should i do :S

No way to test it until its up and running.
since you are using both class ab i would say the current draw is more like 40amps.
also if you are unsure about the wire then under fuse. you wont be drawing max current so i would fuse at 40amp and if the fuse pops then move up to a bigger sized main cable or get a higher fuse.
