Talking got my clarion head deck

well picked up my clarion head deck tonight from autobarn for $400 and im stoked it was discounted from $650 so it was a good saving now to try and work out all the features on the damn thing overall though it looks and feels like a very solid little unit, and its a good start to the sound system im building in the calais heres a link to it from the clarion website

seems like a good buy for 400 odd.
    time alignment, hp-lp filters.
only thing i would be concerned about is 6 volt preouts, could limit your amp selection.
    good job.

i was just out looking for a cheap system to throw in my vl calais when i came across this head deck @ autobarn, and for the price i thought it was good value for money, so i bought it For the front setup i was looking @ a set of JL audio splits, not sure about the rears or sub yet but anyway no rush just happy with the head deck so far

no the usb is intergrated into the unit with around 60cm of play in the cord so you can put it into your glove compartment heres a few pics of it in the flesh, enjoy

LOL I didn't even notice that . The head unit looks great, I wish the USB on my head unit was like that.

haha yeah thats what 2 kids & 2 years of marriage does:P yeah the usb cord is pretty neat and looks like it will have enough cord to run to the glovebox with ease im looking foward to getting the rest of the system to go with it, im getting a set of JL audio splits for up front but not to sure on the back set of speakers yet, or sub? ive also been wondering what boston splits sound like? anyway should sound real good once its all up and running

haha yeah sorry bout that pic fellas, good thing is i can still see my toes yeah im not decided on what amp to go yet but im wanting this system to sound really good without going overboard its funny when i was looking at this head deck in the shop i had the clarion head deck in one hand and a $400 kenwood head deck in the other and the clarion unit was ALOT heavier than the kenwood, so its probably got alot more better quality parts in it than the kenwood one! im thinking of throwing the head deck in this arvo and just running the factory speakers untill i can afford the amps/splits!

ust bought and installed a set of 4"pioneers for $50 brand new and they sound sweet but you can tell that the head deck is just itching for a good set of speakers and has heaps more in it!! the sound i get is crystal clear and comes through the speakers strong but if i crank it to hard the speakers will die as there nominal power rating is 20wrms! im just itching to get a decent set of splits running of a good amp, i reckon it will go off chops !!!

the h/u wil be putting out around 18Wrms, so the speakers will be fine.
