This may be a stupid question but how do you get the speaker grilles off the door trim in a VT Berlina?
you have to pull the whole door trim off buddy

Yeah I figured that part out, but how do you get the grille off the door trim?
The grilles themselves have a moulded-in "peg" which pokes through the door trim. A funny kind of spring steel "washer" is pressed down over the peg - the inside of the washer is a tight fit over the peg, and has "sunbeams" around the centre so the washer deforms slightly when it's pressed on. (the "washer" probably has a proper name, but I don't know what it is!)
They're a real pain in the arse to get off - almost impossible in fact. What I've done when these need to be replaced, is cut through each peg near the base, and then press the washer the rest of the way off. When the new grille is fitted to the door trim, then use an appropriately sized socket to press the clip onto the new peg.
Hope this helps - it's a bugger of a job, don't envy you!
Cheerz.
