    Default Custom install question...

Hey guys i own a vs ute and im just gonna start with installing all new audio stuff ive purchased recently (2 6" Pioneer Coaxials and some fairly top end pioneer h/u). I reckon ill change the coaxials

To accompany the gear i just bought i plan on buying some of the slimline subs from the pioneer range so that i can install them behind the seats in the cabin. I've seen some other utes with this type of set up and it looks really good and is what i want.

My questions is is anything illegal/unroadworthy needed to be done in order to install them this way e.g. cutting holes in the firewall type thing that separates the cabin from the tray in order to fit the subs?

Would it be smarter/easier to install them under under the seats as there seems to be a bit more room under there than behind the seats?

Thanks for your help in advance, this is racking my brain!

did he have to cut any holes? cos with my seats all the way back there doesnt seem to be much room for the subs to fit.

hmm i researched a little bit more and discovered the xr has a lot more room for amps and subs, whereas my vs has the seats right up against the rear firewall. sometimes i wish my legs were a bit shorter lol.

gonna go get a quote for all the work involved in the week after new years. will post some pics once it is fully complete.

    thanks for your help guys

hey mate, i drive a VY ute and im running 2 Pioneer slimline 12" 's behind each seat, it should be fine in a VS ute aswell assuming you dont sit with your seat at a right angle haha, i dont know how big your amp(s) are but i fit 2 jaycar amps under my passenger seat, a 4X100w and a 1000wrms monoblock. im looking to do an install on my mates VS ute pretty soon using a very similar set up, same subs, and im pretty confident it will be no worries and shouldnt have to drive with your knees up along side your head im 6'4" i feel your pain haha.

watever you do dont cut into the back...a guy from tafe has a vr ute and the guy before him cut a massive hole in the back so the sub box is in the tray and the subs come through the cabin....he cant get a roadworthy now so the cars gone.....
