Well would appreciate everyones help and suggestion as I am looking at spending from 250-400 on a 4 channel AMP to power these speakers. And really like the MB Quart but not sure on how good there AMPS are.
Thanks guys.

the majority of car speakers are 4ohm. it usually will tell you on the back of the speaker. if not then you can use a multimeter (or a plain ohmmeter) to find out.
im too lazy to look through it all so il give a basic run-down.
*compare RMS or rated power (same thing) at same ohms as your speakers. disregard maximum power figures.
*the amp should put out equal or more power per channel compared to your speakers.
*its always best to overpower than underpower, you can adjust the 'gain' to avoid overpowering.
Hmmm alright? I think the Jaycar one is more powerful than the MB amp. So which would it be then? Out of the two amps I mean.
ok I had a quick read anyway..
Jaycar amp will put out 130wrms @ 4ohm per channel
MB Quart will put out 100wrms @ 4ohm per channel
the speakers are rated at 110wrms
so yes the Jaycar amp is more powerful and wont underpower the speakers. but at 100wrms it would probably be too loud to listen to anywayso i wouldnt worry about underpowering with the MB Quart amp.
Alright then cool. And i guess the JayCar I can get local aswell. So I am safe that way. Probably just stick with the JayCar like you said.
Anyone else FOR or AGAINST?
azzfox, shame on you mate, you know there is FAR more than just power figures.
ok antisocial, the mb will be a far superior amp. it has less noise and probably better damping.
really power means stuff all if we are looking at quality and the effect of power on a driver.
i have not heard the mb amp, but i can say that i will sell you my jaycar 4 channel 4x130Wrms amp for $180 and i will pay the extra for the mb quart.
sort of like chaulk and cheese really. or diamonds and dog ****.........
ah come on, of course there is. but I just got the impression that the he/she was looking for something to power his/her speakers without going into much detail. if not well then sorry. thats when other people come in and have their say. plus.. I never recommended anything! I just stated the facts!
alright, bed time.. im getting grumpy![]()
Thanks Garfa, So it wouldnt matter if the MB Quart is only 100w RMS and my speakers I think are 110w rms and 130w rms. I mean it wont stuff em up or anything if the MB is running em at 100w only. I just thought the Jaycar because its local the MB is 380 AUD delivered from the states rather than the 999 price tag these prix sell it in perth for. Or is there any other amp in the 250-400 price bracket someone would recommend? or is the MB basically best buy for me at the moment? Id rather have quality than just plain loud noise to be honest coz I probably wouldnt crank it past 10-15 anyways. I was just told if I get an up that is less RMS than my speakers I would stuff em up.
Sh&t this is confusing, shoulda just stuck with factory.. lol
hmmm ok... lol
yeah your probably right. I think I have a problem of always looking at the technical side of thingsANTI: mate there is no real world difference for us between 100 and 130 Watts, only whats on paper.those power figures might not even be 100% accurate anyway give or take.
Thanks guys, might just got for the JayCar one now, due to budget restrictions cause of christmas shopping. And also abit hesitant since the MB is from the USA, I mean I would save bout 600 AUD off the Ozzie retail price. But that doesnt matter if I was to receive a fake. But for now, JayCar 4 x100 it is. time to look for a second hand one hopefully, as cant be bothered getting a new one since I only plan to have it for a couple months.
Thanks guys and Merry Christmas
Mate if you havent already bought one I am running the jaycar one you mentioned and value for money and performance wise it rate it very highly. I erun 2 x 12" subs off it and 2 X (6x9's) and I'm seeing 120+dB in a VN wagon. The AMP also controls the SUBs very well with a very clean tight sound.
I say GO FOR IT![]()
as everyone else has said mate, the jaycar amps are fantastic for what you pay for them, im using one of their response 4x100w and a 1000wrms monoblock with 4 Alpine Type R speakers and 2 Pioneer slimline 12" 's and ive got no grievances whatsoever.
