    Question amp wiring question

    wats the best way or place to get the positive wire through the firewall on a vp commy cheers

    i dont know about the VP, but on a VR, there's a rubber grommet behind the brake booster. You can easily fit it through there and out through the other side where the fuses are.
    My car audio:

    CD tuner: Alpine CDA-9884E with Ipod interface
    Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
    Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
    Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms

    okay sweet is it hard to get to that rubber grommet from under the dash thanks for ur advice

    its a bit tricky if you only feed the power cable through the grommet to the dash. A good idea is to use a straightened coat hanger and tape it to the power cable and then poke it through the grommet. It should be clearly visible under the dash.

    The grommet is there for a reason where cables are put through metal... Get some rubbing and youve got a short in your power cable... Short in 12v line = not good

    Isn't it also illegal to put new holes in the firewall?

    its not where the wires go through its where the steering colum goes through they dont have a grommet for that theres insulation tho and ive got conduit over the wire

    sorry for the hijack but since the thread is called amp wiring
    ive got a new kenwood sub to replace my 2 u.s audio 12's its 1200w
    now im wondering wether or not i can run this from a 4 channel the amp's 800w btw
    if i can run it how do i do it(where to put the wires in the amp) thank's

    ive been told today at work that i can run my 6x9's from 1 and 2 channel and bridge 3 and 4 for the sub is this correct?

    or is it possible to put 1 wire from the sub into + in channel 1 and - in channel 4?

    + from ch#3; - from ch#4.

    next the 4channel amp will not get enough power to the sub almost definatelty.
    time for a new amp mate.

    if it's an auto, you could use the rubber clutch cable grommit to feed a thick cable through if need be. it's on the passanger's side of the brake booster.

    yee its auto is the gromet ur talkin bout like right next to the brake booster on the right hand side if ya lookin at it from in the front of the car and would i just have to feed it through form the engine bay and then just find it under the dash? or do i have to feed a coat hanger through or sumthing? thanks for ya help

    setup the amp and sub today bridged on channel 3 and 4 with my 6x9's on 1 and 2
    sound good but you can easily pick that the sub can take a crap load more

    u should get a seprate mono block for ur sub and then run all ur speakers of ur old amp

    sorry its actually above the steering colum and there is no grommet behind the brake servo i just ran out and took a pic for you lol

    nah mate that works fine!! i have a 4 chanal amp to 2 chanals for rear speakers (1 each) and other 2 bridged for teh sub my amps rated at 80rms per channel and it goes hard thats only 160 rms (dont use wats measure in rms )
