Default recommendations for VN sound system

i'm after a few ideas for a good sound system for my mighty VN. something with good base responce but without a big subwoofer in the boot. (need a functional boot with lots of room for my 15lbs NOS bottle)

all i have laying around at the mo is a sony 100w x2 amp, part no: XM-222

jet_pilot is pritty on to it, the 10 could go to a 12 there not much difrence in the sub box size so long as you keep it as a enclosed box and on top of what jet_pilot sugested you could slip some 6" 3ways into the rear doors for the exstra kick of sound depending on how good ur amp is u should be able to use it

    to look at....
havnt looked into instaling a stero in a vn but i have a vp and there much the same aye peoples?
    if so i put in

    KENWOOD head unit up front
on top the dash (stock Spaekers holes) i put 4" splits
6" splits in the front doors (make sure u can put the window all the way down if u install them)
    6"x9" on the back shelf
6" 3 ways in the back doors
(note: had to cut holes for all spk's in doors)

and a mono block with 2x 12" subs in boot and still had big amounts of room it has a big boot
but you could get a 4ch amp and a single sub
head unit power 4" Fronts and 6"x9" and 6" rear
Amp ch 3/4 bridged to drive Sub and Ch 1&2 to power front splits
(note If u dont want to run all that out the head unit just dont put 6" in rear doors)
hope a bit of that helped...let us kno how u go?

but why would you need decent speakers when the head unit would never be able to power them correctly. instead the speakers would be receiving clipped signals and sounding like ****. this is where amplifiers come in, not only to power correctly but increase clarity also. of course a decent head unit is a big step up from factory gear, but theres more to it than that! no-one would spend $2000 if you could get the same from a single head unit

yep the same mate hu's are fun the first time you do it lol just a big jigsaw
as for door speaker's you will need spacer's or pod's
and its illegal to cut the parcel shelf so box's for the back speaker's are a must
if you just want a decent upgrade from stock i'd recommend split's up front 6x9's on parcel shelf and 1 maybe 2 sub's and a 4 channel
i find with mine it kick's your head in when its too loud ive suffred migraines and a blood nose from it and ive still got standard front speaker's!

cheers guys, was trying to stay away from big subs in the boot. eventually it'll have a high pressure/volume fuel pump/filters/surge tank etc. this is going to be road driven (weekend racer) daily driver.

Mate, my head unit gives 50Ws out and my speakers clip before my sterio does. if you want to send yourself deaf (or compete in sound offs), go the amps and such. but for a daily that has nice sound, i wouldn;t bother at all with amps with a modern head unit.

    so
-satisfactory bass (not extreme but enough)
    -no subs?
i suggest, go get some nice 6x9's up on the rear shelf (fixed, and preferably sound deadened parcel shelf) and get some nice splits up front (sound deadened doors aswell).....

you could get coaxials up front but since your buying them you might aswell do it right first time....

i have a pair of jaycar 6x9's on my parcel shelf, 6" kenwoods in my doors(getting rid of them soon) and they are all powered by a jl audio 4 channel (e4300) and if you want basic but nice sound, i suggest you do something like this to

by the way, headunits 50watts is max, not rms.... always go by rms ratings

so if your going on a budget, jaycar are pretty good and i have these 6x9's...

for fronts and amp you could get something like this? im just showing the old stuff because i dont know what there new gear is like

mate, thats 50w max, not 50wrms. your speakers cannot clip! it is the head unit that will be sending clipped signals and your speakers receiving them. for a daily it would sound nice up to a certain level for sure. but it could be better.

the purpose of amplifiers are to further power and clarity, not make you deaf.
