I want to work on building an in-car entertainment set-up in my vz executive, and i am wondering how would you people go about it? the way i want to go about it is
double-din touchscreen headunit
passenger sun visor screen (maybe, would be nice though)
2x headrest monitors
gaming console (xbox im steering for)
just wondering where would you have the xbox mounted in the car so it cant be damaged? or seen for thieves? i am just wondering also, would anyone get a 4th screen for the person in the middle to look at (say four people are playing xbox, and 3 people have their own screen, it seems the middle person is missing out, and this is if i have the sun visor screen)
i know its a costly project but one i want to undertake, i am in no big rush to get it done, as there is a couple exterior mods i want to do first. but i think id first do either the head monitors or the headunit, what would you do?
nice plans man....the screen which is ur hedunit should be sweet as the screen for the middle passenger in the back otherwise if u really want them a screen look into a 10inch fold down screen from the roof for all the back passengers??? in the end it will come down to what you can afford i guess....

bump guys,
i just got a question regarding this headunit
i want a headunit that can do the shbang, mp3, dvd, touchscreen, navigation etc, but i am wondering on a couple things. i want it double din, no flip-out
would it be best buying from a store like autobarn? or try and save a few bucks and go on ebay? would a place install it in my car even though i didnt buy it from them?
as for sound output, how good are most of them headunits like at producing good sound?
would it be smart getting the headunit first and working on the speakers and the rest, or get my speakers and subs/amps installed first?
and could anyone recommend any good headunits like this? links possible? prices? thanks
mate i would recommend doing your research on all the components you want to use in this setup. you wanna make sure that each component you buy does what you need it to, provides the best bang for your coin and is matched to your other gear power wise etc. to answer a couple questions, yer most places will do an install for you even if you bought it elsewhere. i dont rate ebay that highly for car audio, there is your odd cheap item on there, but i think you would be better off going online (eg ryda) or into wow/jb whatever and telling them all the gear you want to buy and seeing what they can do discount wise. dropping 2k or whatever on gear in one hit gives you a lot of negotiating power. umm what else...your average head deck will put out around the 50wx4 mark which is bugger all really, depending on what speakers you want to run of course. i wouldnt have a clue what available double din wise, but i know there is much less range compared to single din. have you thought about single din with an lcd touchscreen like the new jvc's out? ryto thats enough out of me...just got bored whilst waiting for the mrs to get ready...gl mate!
