    Default recomendations

just bought a new car, 95 hsv senator 185, nice n clean only 140,000k's

i've taken the good bits of my stereo out of my other cars n am just wondering what my best options would be for amps and speakers

and 2 alpine type r 12" subs in a ported alpine box (not sure on wattage but they are pretty powerful, mate had them in his car n they pumped)

    i have around $1000 - $1500 to spend on amps/speakers
just wondering in your opinions what would be the best way to go for me

If i where you mate i would get myself a Jaycar monoblock and a Jaycar 4x100 digital 4channel. I have last years modals and they are by far the best bang for buck amps. Alpine type r's are 500wrms each, the mono puts out 1000 perfect match

As for speakers nobody can tell u what to buy as what sounds good to one person may sound terrible to another, everyone hears differently. Go to your local car audio shop and audition the speakers and pick on what they sound like. REMEMBER if you are running subs, bass is not a big requirement from your speakers so dont focus on how bassy the speakers are listen for mid kicks and the higher notes.

If u realy want good quality speakers look at Focal, Boston and top end alpine, all three sound very different. They do cost a bit though.

    Hope this helps

If you like your live music, band stuff, rock etc go for the focals for splits there an amazing speaker, if your into electronic music get something with a soft dome tweeter as the titanium ones can be very harsh and will need alot of eq tuning.

If you want loudness, get two subs, if you want quality spend the money on one decent sub in a sealed box. Mind you one sub at 500wrms is still enough to make your eyes wobble in your socket if setup correctly.

ok mate well it sounds like you are a balanced sort of bloke so you will need to design the box carefully. a badly designed box can wreck the whole sound.
it sounds as if sealed would be a good choice but ported, if designed well will be good also.

i could not agree more with vx2nv; really great advice. your ears will guide you but keep this in mind (or ear!) you will get a better sopund from running a jaycar amp with EXPENSIVE splits and only very cheap co-ax speakers for the rear. all the sound you will be listening to will be from the front.

now i am rather tipsy (as you can all tell), i have had a hard night finalising my box for the new DLS sub and i think its bed time!
